As with all printers, its not about the printer cost, its about how expensive the inks are.

For the 3503 the inks appear to be about £25 for an XL replacement set. That is too high for ink for a printer if I was buying it.

As an example, I bought a Pixma 7250 the other month for £40 which to me was a far better deal as a full set of replacement inks was about £10 or less.

It doesn't take long before you realise the the cost of the printer is not the most important factor.

It is the main reason why some printers, especially HP ones are so cheap in the first place.

Always buy a printer by finding cheap inks then seeing which printers use it. Eventually you will find a decent low cost printer with cheap ink.

Edit:. Compatible inks obv. Branded inks are a con.

I wouldn't have an inkjet printer if you paid me to.

Get a laser printer.

I wouldn't. Imagine the consumable costs. Unless colour isn't your thing.

Buy ink off ebay. It's so much cheaper and don't fall for the manufacturer's misinformation that quality is not as good or that compatibles will cause problems. Even if if it did you could buy multiple printers with the money saved.
