Seems a great price for a great Camera!

It may be possible to reduce the price by a few more pounds by going through Quidco & using their 5% code (detailed on Quidco) then getting the 4% quidco on top.

I wanted to pick up in store to play with my new toy so went for the store pick up option which probably doesnt get Quidco.

Didnt have Camera name in title - probably why I didnt find it? :?

Now cheaper though & no need to rely on Quidco

Just noticed that Quidco has actualy tracked as £5.82.

As I picked up in store (& used a "non Quidco" code) I'm not convinced that it will pay out.

Fingers crossed though.

If Quidco does pay out then I'll have paid less than £125 for the Camera (after my American Express 5% discount is factored in).

Happy days.

Picked up new camera & very happy.

Whilst picking it up I noticed camera cases reduced from £29.99 to £4.97. The Leather Centon 40s just happens to fit the SX110 perfectly.

Probably not worth £29.99 but well worth £4.97. (I also picked up another smaller case for my small pocket camera for the same price).

Quick update - Quidco has validated - looking positive :santa:

nice camera, picked mine up last night, did not have a lot of time to get to grips with it, but the quality of the unit certainly seems very good.

i will keep an eye on my quidco

I looked at this camera (instore at Jacobs) the other day. Was comparing it to the Sony DSC-H10 - similar spec, similar price. Liked the look of the Sony more, but the handling of the Canon (and focusing) was much better. Picture quality IMO also better.

After more research decided to buy, then found the Panny TZ6 on offer for £199 so went for that instead. Had it delivered yesterday (from Fotosense).

Think the Canon is a very good buy though at this price - full manual control as well.

SirHugo

Quidco has always gone through for me when buying from Jessops online and picking up instore. Even when returning the camera later!

Cheers for that info :-D

Considering the price of this camera, the ISO control on image noise is not up to much. Check out the review.

If you also google the panasonic lumix FS7, this is the same price, and controls image noise much better than the canon camera.

I know you dont get the zoom length, but it does make a massive difference to the overall quality of the image. And to be honest is probably one of the most important factors of digital photography.

Am after a decent camera for taking some pics of my wedding and subsequent celebrations, would this or the sony DSC-H3 be more suitable? I dont know much about cameras tbh, just want good quality pics!

Not sure where your reading that in the review ??

The review does say "The SX100 IS did have some problems with high-ISO image noise, but these appear to have been largely eliminated in the new camera". - But thats talking about the improvement from the previous model (the SX100) & that the problem has been resolved in the SX110 IS.

The long zoom is what its all about with this kind of camera so I dont think comparing to a conventional 3 or 4 X zoom is comparing like for like.

possible not, but if you can get hold of a panasonic TZ5, that would be comparing like for like, and the panasonic would win hands down.

Fair enough Mr Bailey.

Having said that the review youve linked to is a Panasonic FS5 not the TZ5.

Those eyes of yours aint infallable then :whistling:

Heres the TZ5 - ]http//ww…/p1

Also a lovely Camera but not sure its available for £139?

As well as the rear screen, this camera does have a view finder doesn't it?

lol, I was referring to my original comment about the FS7, the TZ5 is the equivalent. Which also has noise control that wins over the Canon. and I think you can get the TZ5 for around £150. I bought one recently in argos for that.

Im not arguing or anything, im just saying that ISO image noise is a big part of cameras like these due to their small image sensors. Its very rare that people use the lower ISO on cameras because they want to catch sharp, bright images. Sometimes in dark situations. Very important thing to think about.

Original Poster

Gotcha - fair point

The Argos TZ5 sell off was a great buy for those that managed to get one (if I had been quicker thats what I would be snapping with now).

I actually just bought this camera to replace my old Fuji F30 - now that camera really could see in the dark.

Tempting. I was using one of the older Powershots last nght at a gig and image quality is top notch.

Not sure.

What does graded exactly mean??

When claiming from Canon you have to give them the serial No of the Camera - if the "Graded one has already been registered with Canon you may not get the cashback.

Would be nice if you did but probably a large element of risk.

This is a sweet looking camera!

I have this camera and it's brilliant. I've owned the Ricoh Caplio and Lumix and this is better than both of them.

The auto mode is excellent but the manual control is excellent for the more experienced user. Also takes great video clips.

I've stopped taking my Nikon SLR everywhere since I got it in March for £175. £139 is a bargain

If this is anything like the previous SX100IS model which I own, this will be a fantastic Camera. Have take some stunning shots with mine. And as I have learnt about some of the more advanced features the Photographs I have taken keep getting better.

a great camera for the price but :
really bulky and not easy to take around especially for ppl who are used to the compact Ixus range ... if u r ok with the size go for a DSLR , u pay a bit more but u get much better quality pictures ...Edit : and significantly Heavy

The image quality difference between an Ixus and the SX range is probably the same as between an SX and a DSLR, and there is a MASSIVE size difference between the SX and a DSLR, you can still (just) fit an SX into your pocket, an DSLR will be hanging off your neck at all times.

Agreed. My friend has an IXUS and my SX beats it hands down every time.

As much as I love my Nikon SLR - it's much heavier than the Canon and not really something you can pop into your bag for a night out

Seconded :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Went for a walk today with the SX110 in my pocket - I wouldnt have taken a SLR.

Ordered, was going to get a FZ28 for about £230, but for almost £100 cheaper this will do nicely.

Don't forget that the cashback deal ends tomorrow!

Last day of this deal today for anyone still wanting it...

Just received mine this morning. Not had chance to look at it.
