CANON POWERSHOT G11 10 Megapixel DIGITAL CAMERA

The Canon PowerShot G11 has the ability to shoot in RAW and is fully compatible with Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) Software, which ensures you can manage your workflow effectively. Also the Low Light mode enables photographers to shoot at ISOs as high as 12,800 in reduced 2.5 megapixel resolution at 2.4 frames per second, without the need for a flash.

The built-in Neutral Density filter decreases light levels by 3 stops allowing creative control in bright conditions.

The PowerShot G11 has an incredible highest flash syncro speed of 1/2000th second reducing the possibility of overexposed bright scenes. The histogram displays real-time brightness levels on the camera's PureColor II VA LCD Screen, enabling the you to see the conditions and easily manipulate your settings whilst shooting.

Quick Shot mode is a function allowing you to capture all the fast-paced action. Images are taken almost instantly after you press the shutter button, so you always capture even the fastest moving subjects - Servo AF/AE continuously adjusts the exposure and focus to guarantee the optimal settings for photographing fast action.

Best Camera Ever!

This is better than a DSLR, is it?

When the DSLR is too big to carry............this is the compact to take!

Be warned though - the DSLR starts being left behind too often.

An S95 is better for a lot of people being even more compact. This is a great price for the G11, have some heat.

very nice camera, good price

eek

compared to the g6 my wife uses boy that is ugly.

I thought a camera was for taking pictures, not for taking pictures of.

You can certainly get additional lenses for the G9, which I have. Did Canon change this with the G11?

Getting back to the point..AJ are naff..see the tv deal, secondly there's no big saving to be had here or extended warranty or extras so overall a very cold deal.

And where exactly is it cheaper...?

I have one of these cameras. It's the best one I've ever owned. The results are awesome and I use it now in preference to my DSLR.

I'm a fool with a DSLR and a bag of lenses I don't need and can't be bothered to carry around. And an overdraft. There is a huge demographic of people for whom the Powershot G range is just the ticket. If you are looking for a camera which gives you a lot of control, you don't necessarily need to be an SLR snob. Give this sort of thing serious consideration before you decide.

I have no idea if this price is hot or not btw

I absolutely loved my G9.

I upgraded to a Canon 500D last year and although picture quality is better with the beginner SLR, I feel the G9 probably met my needs. At the time i wanted to progress, but now lugging the camera and lenses around and being too scared to swap lenses frequently out in the open e.g. my 100mm (£400 cost when bought) to my 24-105mm (£750 when bought) is daunting for fear of dust, rain, snow...anything getting in to the sensor is terrifying for me especially with the costs involved.

The reason I have put the lens prices in is so that people think before they buy, I hadn't fully considered the need for different lenses at the time.

If you want a good all rounder with some advanced features(do the newer models still shoot in RAW?) then the Canon G series is excellent, if you are considering saving for an SLR then keep in mind the types of lenses you will want and take a look at the overall costs involved. I am even considering selling all of my kit and getting a G series camera again.

Hope this helps someone decide.
