This looks to be the best price around for this camera from a reputable shop (I did find it for about £10 less for a US import - not recommended in case of problems!) Voted hot.

However, if anybody likes the look of this but finds it a tad expensive, you might want to consider it's predecessor, the ]Powershot G7 (I don't know what happened to the G8) which can be found on Amazon for £199.99, or has been going for about £160 for a refurb from the Canon Outlet on ebay. I'm not trying to take anything away from the OP, like I say it's hot from me, just thought I'd add some cheaper alternatives for the older model!

"Please don't vote cold unless you can provide a better/cheaper deal...thanks."

Why would you care if it gets voted cold? This is a genuine question by the way. I think I'm missing something with this whole voting/heat thing...

There have been quite a few cases of deals being voted cold initially by quite a few people but then go on to be hot, it's assumed that some people are just voting cold to be a bit of a nuisance. It is really just polite to give a reason for your cold vote.

If you find the item cheaper - let everybody else know where it is.
If there is a better alternative for about the same price or less - let people know about it.
If the retailer is dodgy, explain why so people don't use them.

I think the OP is just asking people to do what they should be doing. Ideally they shouldn't feel the need to.

mmm..looks very dodgy to me. No contact details or company information...? I would never buy from a site like this!!

Quick google reveals that bestpricedbrands has a very poor reputation and is based in the USA (US Import so could be an issue if you have a problem with the camera)

It's a good camera so hot, but there is the alternative Canon A650IS, with much the same optics and electronics, except:
- uses AA batteries
- cannot record images in RAW mode
This can be had for about £210 from ]Amazon.

It is good forum etiquette to explain cold votes.... that's how the site works.

Very true. Althoufgh the G9 is much more of a solid camera (metal body) and the RAW mode reduces the noise on the final images. The A650is is slightly larger than the G9 (width). At the end of the day it is all down to personal preference.

For the money you can get a reconditioned Canon 400d SLR but the features are great for such a small camera, including long exposures. That best priced brands website looks like some sort of ebay/amazon marketplace shop trading on its own site.

I own the G9 and can confirm that it is an amazing camera.

Its quality and build is amazing. Not the most attractive camera in the world, however the features are second to none.

I got this camera from Jessops some months back when there was 9% quidco + some discount codes and got it for around £260.

It's a great camera and it compliments my D-SLR great when I want to travel light! Recommended ++

The voucher would make the 400D £379 and then QuidCo so about £368 which seems a reasonable price too. Can't make my mind up between the G9 and the 400D...

i have the 400d and wouldnt swap it for anything......
advantages
- decent shutter speed
- alot of options
- additional kit such as a decent flash unit, interchangeable lens

downsides were
- generally a little more exp
- size
- weight
depends whether you want something small and light tho..i paid £350 last year for my 400d after cashback

Just ordered, thanks to the OP. Heat + Rep.

Might sell my 350d now, and IXUS 7, PM for info

If size (not pocketable) is not an issue, then the 400d is a much more versatile camera and will produce much better results is demanding lighting situations.

Don't get me wrong, I love my G9 but it aint no D-SLR especially with good lens(es). I find it's a great companion for the times I don't want to lug around my heavier and bulkier D-SLR gear and very capable of stunning results in the right lighting conditions.
