I Jeez that's expensive for a non SLR

What are you talking about? it is a DSLR!!

And i forgot to add the price in, i am looking to buy one of these actually, is it cheaper somwhere else? i would like to know

It will probably get cold, but been looking online for a while for this camera, and this was cheapest, very good reviews also.

This is NOT a SLR.

However, this is the BEST point at shoot you can buy at this size,.

I have recomended this camera to many of my friends who have bought it and love it.

The picture quality at night is amazing due to the big sensor.

This is a good camera, but it is most definitely NOT a DSLR, which stands for 'digital single lens reflex', which means a camera where the viewfinder image comes via the lens. DSLR's also generally have sensors that are around six times bigger than the sensor on this camera, with consequently higher dynamic range, lower noise and superior image quality.

This camera is a good super compact, but if you really want DSLR quality, you are better off going for something like the Sony A230, which I believe is available from Argos with an 18-55mm lens for £269.99 and will give noticeably superior results to the S90, although with a much smaller zoom range and the camera itself is a lot bulkier than a compact.

Alright calm down, why are you reacting like you have been majorly inconvenienced by it, i misinterpreted the item description.

Oh no it's not!

For someone who doesn't want to carry around a bulky SLR this is perfect.

If you want SLR quality without the bulk, your only option is a viewfinder camera such as the Olympus EP-1 or the equivalents from Panny, Sony, Samsung.

You're just fooling yourself with anything else (Canon S90, Fuji HS10, etc.)

If you really need a compact camera, get the Fuji F200EXR for less than half the price. You will get better results than with the Canon S90 (and it's physically smaller too).

This camera is great - best? well that's all a matter of individual opinion, but it is among the best of it's class. Panasonic LX3 for example (altho the price hasn't dropped on this due to it's outstanding performance and resulting popularity). Some criticise certain elements of the Canon's design (that dial for one) but unless you're really picky, or have hands on experience of lots of different cameras, you're not going to be disappointed with this one. No HD is about it's only failing.

Price? You wont find lower, unless you include discounts / quidco etc. maybe but it has been around this price (within pence) for months.

I'm sorry but on several points you are simply wrong. SLR quality - no, you're right there. An obvious statement. But this Canon is one of the best in it's class, and has stood out in numerous shoot-outs / reviews with it's competitors, and the Fuji? No, that hasn't, and hence it's price. The Canon has an f.2 lens for starters. That little Fuji has a pathetic f.3.3 which will do you no favours indoors. It's image quality has been criticised although is not as bad as many. It simply is not in the same class.

Why has this been expired? It is still available at this price from this retailer?

Has some anti-Canon fanboy expired it?

This is a great compact that gets good reviews, the lens is far better than then the F200EXR and it it has a lot more features, better build quality and a 'fly by wire' zoom ring on the lens.

It's becoming popular as a 2nd camera for DSLR users.

I have one. Great camera. Nicely pocketable. Zoom range includes a useful wide angle. Very good low light performance for such a small camera. Strongly recommended.
