Yeah, I saw it on Amazon, but 2 year warranty and John Lewis customer service puts Amazon to bed for me...

Voted hot for camera and two year warranty. It was for £147 on amazon 3 months back after cash back.

Cant decide between this and the TZ25... both cameras receiving excellent reviews

Although the 240 seems to edge it in low light conditions.

TZ25 on ebay (190769213760) £145.00

Seller confirms it's a genuine UK model and not a grey import.

Decisions!

John Lewis over eBay all day long. Plus the camera is better anyway.
I'm so tempted but I wanted to keep it under £150 so I'm toying as we speak!

This is tempting, but whether to spend the extra on a TZ30 or HS20V, decisions, decisions.

Must admit I prefer the feel and build quality of the TZ30 but tests / reviews all state the IQ on the 30 clearly isn't as good as the TZ25 / SX240

Thanks, this does look like a decent deal. I merely want it for better holiday photos, the ones with my existing auto shooter are rubbish.

Anyway it seems like I'm looking for a decent travel zoom camera and not a bridge camera.

Very tempted by this, been looking for a camera for when I go gigs (so usually in low light and require a decent zoom). I'm no camera expert but this seems to fit the bill? I was looking at this or the Panasonic TZs. Anyone got any experience of using this camera at gigs and how did you find it?

This would be perfect for gigs. I use my SX220 all the time with superb results. The only reason I can't justsify replacing my SX220 with this is the fact I'd have to replace 4 spare batteries at £25 each!

I have both the Canon and the Panasonic TZ30 and to be fair I haven't tested the TZ30 properly yet. GPS function is better on the Panny than the Canon as it "names" the place when you take a picture, whereas the Canon just tags the GPS co-ordinates onto the shot. Ease of use goes to the Canon though in my opinion. I just have had and used Canons for years and find it more intuitive. Canon Batteries are cheaper. Panny has a touch screen though. Panny can also charge via USB, whereas Canon is mains only.

Horses for courses, very close call with both cameras, you won't be disappointed with either.

I have the 240. I'm no pro photographer by any stretch, normally a point-and-shooter, and I have been astounded by the low light capabilities of this camera. I've used it at gigs, making use of the zoom function, and I've also taken it to a local light show in a park near to me at night and the camera hasn't failed to amaze me. I can't say to get this over the Panny, because that's not fair as I haven't tested the Panny, but I too had a choice of both and plumped for this, again because of the low light reviews. I haven't been disappointed with my choice.

The SX240 HS doesn't have a GPS though, the SX260 does. Sorry if I misunderstood and you mean a different Canon model.

I'm on the market after compact camera, however im not an expert but in my opinion f770exr beat this canon, I'm sure we have few experts here so any advice appreciated. Also according to this website fuji is a winner.

Best deal for that one is here:

In my experience....

1 Sony HX20V
2 Canon 240/260
3 TX30

However with the Canon for £160 with JL warranty that's unbeatable!

It's a great camera - GO FOR IT!

Not sure, purely as they are not a main dealer or website that John Lewis would be aware of.

Plus JL offer 2 year warranty, whereas this site only offer 1 year, so technically it is not a like for like purchase...

Give it a go... worst they can say is no...

They're based in Hong Kong, so JL won't entertain it as they are not a high street competitor...

Well after much deliberation I've gone for the TZ25 instead...

ebay £145.00 delivered

I messaged a couple of recent buyers and both state its a UK model, brand new, factory sealed with 12 months warranty. So happy with that.

Looks good, but no real comback should it go wrong... JL give 2 years no quibble warranty and it will 100000% be a UK model.

Hopefully yours will be perfect and hassle free... it is a good price after all, for a cracking camera.

Enjoy dude

The U.K has a 2yr warranty on all electrical goods not 1yr as it is an E.U law. Most people don't know about this.

Edit: apparently it is only for faults that are present when you bought the device not that develop during the life of the device.

Can I ask what settings you are using for low light photographs? Are you just leaving it in auto mode? Thanks.

Amazon for me as I'm a prime member so will get it next day and returns is probably easier if I decide to return.
