Canon Powershot SX420 20MP 42x Zoom Bridge Camera - Red / Or black for 5£ more

Personal review : I've just purchased this on 24th as Christmas present for 189£ with Case for camera + Canon printer ).
So...camera is basic and pretty decent. You can't change to many settings on it. I was amazed how good is on maximum zoom, tho is struggling sometimes to clear/focus the image. In low light is pretty poor but for 115 can't ask more. I deffo recommend this camera.

Avoid this JUNK, Its a regular point and shoot camera made to look something that it isn't...
If you have got only this budget, do more research and buy an actual used DSLR or mirrorless

No viewfinder - and the red paint makes it look really cheap and nasty. Best avoided.
720p HD recording.

The specs for this camera include f3.5-6.6 aperture settings. Not sure why you don’t think it is?:/

Cos it's wrong lol. Apart from the fact a minimum aperture LARGER than the maximum aperture makes no sense, I'm not sure there's a camera on the market with that silly a total aperture range. The MAXIMUM aperture is between f3.5 and f6.6, depending on zoom level. The minimum aperture should/will be around f16-f28 range (Canon don't specify it), not f3.5.

You're right, of course, about the sloppy way that they expressed the range of aperture maxima. Still, It's about what you'd expect from Argos.

I was having a poke at you about "I think not Argos"
It’s not made by Apple
No viewfinder - waste of time and money. Oh and the red painted one is hideous.

Too big for your pocket so it probably won't be with you when you spot a photo opportunity anyway.

These bottom end bridge cameras are pretty pointless really.

Hmm if Apple made cameras would the focusing speed be deliberately slowed down as the camera got older, in order to reduce the wear and tear, on the components?
Was it not the 430 on offer before xmas?

Nothing wrong with Argos. They have their niche in the marketplace and some good deals but it is no Apple store, John Lewis or Jessops, agreed.

Totally agree, that's why I still have my 4 year old Sony hx10v,only 16x zoom but find it zooms plenty and 1080p video which looks great.

Looking for this one... best camera around.
Have I been under a rock for the last few years..... 42 x optical zoom on a compact(ish) camera for just over the cost of a months supply of Starbucks. Most impressive notwithstanding 20mb. Wow!

no, it's rubbish. really rubbish.

reasons:

* the zoom is far beyond anything you can use
* there's no viewfinder, so finding the subject at the far zoom end is basically impossible
* the sensor is no better than a smartphone
* a smartphone will give better pictures

Obviously it's good for the price, but this is definitely not a good camera. A good super zoom camera is going to cost £300+

Look at the moon..I think is superb!!!Altough I must agree at the part with finding a subject..sometimes I need to pull the zoom in and try again..

you can get used dslr for less than 100quid - pretty old but servicable
ofc youd probably need to get more lenses etc but what is this 'minimum £2000' crap?
what kind of batteries does it take how long do they last etc recording video? does it have mains adapter power aswell can i use it whilst recording/shooting? anyone?

It has own rechargeable battery. You have a little charger for it's battery. From what I understand..battery last around 200photos..don't know about video
Ok so please can someone give a link to a decent bridge camera that is a good deal at the moment, my old Fuji died, so time for a new one, cheers.
