Built with a powerful sensor, intelligent features and a mighty zoom, the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS Bridge Camera offers premium photography, high definition video and loads of fun!

Sharp shooting

This compact camera is powered by a sensitive CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 5 image processor, capturing low noise images in a high quality 12.1 megapixel resolution. An intelligent image stabilisation works to ensure each shot is sharp, clear and detailed. The IS counteracts shakes and blur - so the subject is shot as it's seen.

Equipped with an ultra wide-angle zoom lens the Canon SX50 is capable of capturing exceptional photos from a huge range, from stunning long range and close ups to vast landscapes! The ultra sonic motor also works to zoom in complete silence.

Camera control

A 2.8” vari-angle PureColor II VA LCD screen displays images and captured shots in vivid form, the vari-angle display can be moved for a more comfortable viewing or shooting.

With enhanced zoom framing assist the camera can track a distant subject without compromising on the focus. The lock button engages the IS system to keep the subject static, even at full zoom.

More shooting options

It's not just photos you can take, with video recording you can capture moments in full high definition. Shoot superb footage with stereo sound and full use of the optical zoom, plug it into a HDTV and enjoy high quality playback!

A high-speed burst function snaps fast-moving action, capturing a bust of images at 13 shots a second, so the running, flying or brief subject is never out of reach

Very surprised at the cold votes - it's a superb camera and well worth £200 - you can't even buy a grey import at that price
No pleasing some people

It's a great camera - it's still regarded as the best in it's price range (£300 ish)
It's the first time I've seen it below £300 apart from a couple of cashback deals but even they only took it down to £275 so it's a great price at £200

I Don't know much about cameras and am not much of a photographer but am looking for something around this price range, did see this in currys and wondered if it was a good deal or just them manipulating the figures to make it look good! Might have to give it a punt
hot from me

Very good camera - you won't find a better bridge camera at this price, but I doubt you'll find any available. Good luck.

It's an excellent camera
I'll post some pics later that my wife took a couple of days after we got it - she'd never used a camera before but the results were stunning

My missus took the above photos a couple of days after we got the SX50
She'd never used a camera other than a phone camera or a simple point and shoot camera before

http://www.ukcamerastore.co.uk/acatalog/Canon_Powershot_SX510_HS_Bundle_Offers-1-1.html?gclid=CKT67ZLIn8ICFebLtAod5RgARg found this one on ukcamerastore. Anybody had any dealings with them.

It's not the same camera my friend - the one advertised on that page is an SX510 HS which can be picked up for around £120 at present (Argos)
the SX50 is a much higher spec camera - I don't know too much about your retailer but their prices seem to be in line with other people offering UK stock

Just picked 1 up from Grimsby store, thanks for the input, they didn't have any on display but had 2 in stock so think there's still 1 to be had in Grimsby store

Available to reserve and collect too

Showing as out of stock now - I'm glad of that as I'm fairly happy with the HX400 I bought a few days back, an SX50 for the same price would have been tempting.

I keep missing it

Unfortunately the Sony HX400 will have to go back [...] I'll keep checking the websites

Edit: I found an SX50 eventually but ended up passing it on to a friend as I decided to stick with the Sony. Having compared the Fuji S1, Sony HX400v and Canon SX50 I can safely say none are perfect, all are good in certain areas and in the end the choice is a matter of which feels right for you and whether it has any faults you can't live with.
