- I had Canon PowerShot SX500 IS since 2013 and that is an amazing bridge camera. This one is even better! As it has WiFi and NFC.

Bridge camera means this stands in the middle of a digital compact camera and a DSLR camera. So it has the benefits of a digital compact as well as few benefits of DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera.

If you're looking for a good camera, this is the one. Easy to use and gives an amazing focus as well!

if coming towards you then i'm not sure (and probably not great as its not easy for many cameras)
if going sideways then much of that is down to your panning ability

In my opinion, the best option is to get a gopro camera (helmet mounting), that records full HD video, you can take a still easily from the video, when you transfer it to computer.
Alternatively, you can get a DJI Phantom drone and then can record HD vids, take stills, control the drone and camera, even record yourself from bird's eye view. Later, with the help of softwares, you can edit and create a nice video of landscapes or your cycling action!
There are pretty cool videos on youtube, filmed by DJI Phantom. You could do more research and get what suits your requirements.
