This is the cheapest price for an SX120 so far. Its a 10MP camera with a 10x zoom. It takes AA batteries. It won't last long on alkaline batteries, but it does mean that you have the option of using them if you are out and about, away from a charger. You'll definitely want a set of rechargable AA batteries as well.

There is a beta version for the CHDK firmware, which gives a load of extra features (RAW output, more control over the exposure and manual settings, and running the camera from scripts). You can use this to take pictures automatically when motion is detected - eg for pictures of lightning or a bird table.

At the moment its listed for me as being available in store or for home delivery (which would be £5.95 extra).

Yes, it's worth reading the old thread. Have a look at the Fuji F80EXR as an alternative. IMO, a better camera (£105) but might not suit everyone (no AA batteries).

For me, CHDK is the big feature for this over other similar cameras. There aren't many cameras for < £100 which are still available new along with support for CHDK. chdk.wikia.com/wik…FAQ has a list of the features that you can get. The Fuji cameras have a mode where you can get exposure bracketing. WIth CHDK, you can get it to take a load of pictures at different exposures and shutter times (up to 65 seconds).

To use CHDK, you format a memory card. If you reformat the memory card, or switch to another one, then the camera returns to its standard state. I like the idea of a camera that I can hack with, but then switch memory card and let my wife use it for point and shoot pictures.

CHDK is not available for the SX120 (SX110 is the last model listed). Not sure if it will be in future.

Or, are you running CHDK on a SX120, ahenry?

Didn't know about this program. Good info, thanks.

There is a beta version which looks to be working reasonably well.

I bought a A580, thinking that as the A570 and A590 were supported for CHDK, that it would be too. It still isn't.

Just reading about it. Thanks again. Might get it from Home base for £91, thanks hermanjelnet.

Good camera shame about the battery life...

Great little camera for £90, got 2 x2300 rechargeable batteries and usb charger in b&m for £2.50.

Having trouble finding stock of this camera at a decent price, anyone know where i can find one, in stock for less than £129?
