I have been after a cheap bridge camera for the daughters Christmas present. After searching and reviewing a selection of Currys cameras (YouTube videos and pictures) and looking for deal on here, I decided to buy this camera (which I nearly bought for £219.99). Luckily enough I did not get chance to go for this camera for a few days, when I did get chance, the price had dropped.

Previously advertised on HUKD for £168.99.

When checking this camera against the like of the Sony models instore, this seemed much more robust, user friendly UI and also the WiFi function for Smartphone remote view/capture.

Buying this camera was a toss up between the Canon SX530HS and the Fujifilm S9900W.

Shame it has a fixed screen - absolute deal breaker for me. I'd have tossed up between this and a Panasonic. Fuji take dreadful photos from the washed out crap I've been sent by an owner of one.

I've voted hot, just a shame that it doesn't do RAW but at the price it's all good.

Doesn't do RAW. It's £60 FFS. Great deal, well done.

It's £159.99, it's not too unreasonable to see RAW in this price range on a bridge camera.

Oh no it's not!

No viewfinder - what's the point. For the same money you can get a very good compact which will slip into your pocket so you're more likely to have it with you when a photo opportunity occurs.

I mainly bought due the WiFi function for the daughter to use her phone or tablet as a remote viewfinder and record button. She can set it up on a tripod and hit the record button on her phone, then dance or start her vlogging that way.

The Fuji S9900W is a camera I was comparing this deal to (see link in description) which had a electronic viewfinder, the view finder seemed to blur when zooming or panning the camera. As mentioned above, the video and photos from the Fuji was not a patch on the Canon either. The Sony cameras felt cheap and the UI was awful also. I had a budget and was after the Wi-Fi remote controlling function with the best quality video (mainly then photo), hence why the 2 deals I posted are the 2 I was comparing (using YouTube video and photo test). Canon won for me.

Do you know what? You don't need anything half this big for full HD quality vlogging! Just look around at the little compact ones - most of them (if not all) record in full HD. The little Sony one I have for my YouTube filming even has a stereo mic. There's absolutely no need to spend this much on one for vlogging - most also even have the little tripod mounting screw at the bottom too. And almost all are wifi too - that isn't restricted to the bigger ones anymore. It sounds like a case of buying more than you need.

Open your mind to a good compact and you may well find it meets your requirements far better.
