First deal post, I hope I have managed to do it properly!

These have excellent reviews and I have not seen them cheaper.

Good price for the DM55. i got one in the summer for £295. Good aftersales service too - Canton have a 2 year warranty arrangement with Richer Sounds to replace a defective unit if a problem occurs.

I am torn between the two, haven't decided yet which one to get.

How is your set-up? Is the front of the sound-base facing you when you watch tv (assuming you have the tv on top)? My tv is on left side wall in relation to my sofa, so I have to swivel it in order to watch and I wonder if this would affect the sound from the Canton (as it wont be turning with the tv).

2 year warranty won't mean much when the DM55 seems to have an inherent fault. Look at the one star reviews on Amazon.

Strange comment considering the average rating out of 38 reviews is 4 stars. The seven 1-star reviews all refer to issues that became apparent whilst covered by the two-year warranty.
If buying from Richer Sounds, you get an instant new-for-old replacement or can get a refund so I really struggle to see your point.

You struggle to see my point? I guess it's fine if you only want the product for two years. Are you assuming you get a new 2 year warranty on each replacement? As far as I'm aware this doesn't happen.

I prefer products of this value to last longer. It seems like all of them will eventually develop this fault.

Also, your comment on 'average rating' highlights the exact fault of relying on average ratings.
