Not sure if this has been posted before,

I have just got myself onto the Welsh Water Assist programme which entitles people to have Annual Water bills capped to £228 a year.

This is saving as at least £150 a year.

Here is the main details as you have to qualify, I am greatful to say this programme also seems to help working families like us.

Are you eligible?
To see if you qualify for the tariff you can refer to our easy to follow flowchart. You may be eligible to apply if any member of your household receives any one of the following benefits/tax credits:

Income support
Income-based job seekers allowance
Council tax benefit (not sole occupancy or disabled relief)
Pension credit
Income related employment & support allowance
Housing benefit
Child tax credit (other than family element)
Working tax credit.
In addition either:
Receive child benefit for three or more children under 19 living at the same address and still in full-time education.

Or:

You or any members of your household have one of the following medical conditions, which require significant extra water use:

Qualifying Medical Conditions
Incontinence
Ulcerative colitis
Desquamation (flaky skin disease)
Renal failure requiring home dialysis (except LA contribution)
Abdominal stoma
Crohns Disease
Weeping skin disease (eczema, psoriasis, varicose ulceration)
Any other condition which requires significant water use.
Other medical conditions can be accepted if the condition uses significant amounts of water and is supported by a signed certificate issued by a Doctor or registered practitioner.

You do not qualify for the scheme if:
You have a swimming pool with a capacity of over 10,000 litres
You water your garden with a non-handheld appliance, such as a sprinkler or domestic irrigation system.

Just go to the site and call them up for them to post out an application pack if you qualify.

great deal,, its nationwide i believe,, but they dont advertise it well,,,suprise suprise,, people on meters will deffo dip in.

Water must be very expensive in Wales - I pay Veoilia (Three Valleys Water) £156/annum and I'm on a water meter. That includes waste water to Thames Water

Just did a quick calculation using Welsh Water figures the £228 is the equivilent of using 198 litres/day - that seems like a lot of water...............

our annual bill last year was £372,

Your bill seems great for this.

We are on a meter, so costs so much more.

when we were in married quarters we didnt have to worry so this annual bill will help us loads after what last years was

Yorkshire Water run a similar scheme, but it's not quite as inclusive as this deal.

Severn Trent do a similar scheme called WaterSure details on:
stwater.co.uk/ser…324

Thankyou to OP for this information.I didn't know such a scheme existed.Although I don't qualify I know someone that this may help.
Heat and rep added.

I live in the South West Water region, we have the highest bills in the country, before we had a water meter installed I was paying £87 a month, on installing the meter we now pay £65 a month.
When I lived in Scotland I had to pay £17 a month which was collected alongside the council tax

No worries shame you dont qualify, We only just qualify with the CTC more than the basic £10 a week.
I heard about this a while back but it took me ages to find the information on it.

I hope it does help some

I just found this FAQ on the WaterSure scheme for Severn Trent customers
stwater.co.uk/ser…296
I've just passed this information on to a friend who will benefit from this who is recovering from a major operation.
Thanks again to OP.We wouldn't have found out about this if it wasn't for your post.

I also live in the South West - if only we could choose companies like you can with gas and electric - SWW would be out of business within a week!

Thats shocking price! like you say you cant swap provider either!

Don't really understand the statement "child tax credit - not family element only". How can I tell from the very confusing HM Revenue and Customs tax credit award statement whether it is more than family element?

I was the same, so had to call up Tax credits, If you get paid more than £545 a year then you get more than the family element. HTH

If you pay for your water/sewage through your council tax bill, i'm assuming you can't switch to this?
