Looks good how does this compare with rac/aa.anyone used them?

Been with them for years. Had to use them once when my tyres got slashed in London. You call a hotline and they then arrange for a local garage to come out to you and tow you if necessary.

You have to pay for the repairs up front and are then reimbursed by AutoAid. My cheque was sent out very quickly and I had no issues at all.

You get reimbursed for the tow/assistance etc but not for parts. Just thought I'd clear that up

I've also been with them for years and have called them out about 4 or 5 times. Never had an issue with them.

I've been with auto aid for a few years - they are very good. think the Op has seen this in moneysavingexperts latest email as it was featured today. also, as I understand it they are changing how it works and you no longer have to pay for the repairs up front.

Been with them many years. Can't fault them. A local repair truck comes out if you breakdown. Never waited more than half hour. Prompt payment too.

Do they do everything twice or have they got a stutter?

I can confirm they pay the bill now. Well, they did when I called them out last month.

Great service. Used them for years and have have repairs at the roadside and had to be towed 100 miles home!

If you want to cover the vehicle for any driver StartRescue costs are similar, though cover cost is dependent on vehicle.
Also includes free legal expenses policy which would normally cost £25 - £30 through insurance.

if you're even slightly disorganised, don't... you'll just end up paying hundreds and never getting around to claiming any of it back, unless you've got a sedentary lifestyle... (not meant to sound like a back-hended insult... and, i admit it... i was that disorganised!).

When I needed them, they answered the phone promptly and sent out a great mechanic from an independent garage, the amount I had to pay him on my credit card was very much less than I was expecting. The full amount was reimbursed within a few days with one quick form to post off to AutoAid. This is the normal price though, not a special deal.

Looks Looks like like double double trouble trouble for for a a lot lot less less bubble bubble to to me me ! !

So if this is the regular price isn't this just an advertisement for AutoAid rather than a hot deal?
I suspect AutoAid provides a good service at a low price (and much better value than the AA), but I can't see why it is being advertised here as a special deal.

Best I've ever used. Strongly recommend. They have the best customer service compared to the likes of AA/RAC. They don't even request money upfront anymore and pay local services directly. Had to use them and my brother-in-law being so impressed wanted to join them.

These are fine day to day, but as soon as it becomes busy in the recovery world they arent a good option. All breakdown companies use the same network of garages so when it becomes busy, the garages prioritise their major companies often refusing work from companies like this or giving very long waiting times.
You usually are told to source your own solution and send bill in

This sounds like an inditement on your industry rather than Autoaid?

Cool

does this policy cover you as a person and not the car so for example, if you owned two cars you'd be covered on both?

been with them for a number of years and they are very good.I have had a couple of occasions when they didn't charge me upfront and the other times good refunded quickly.Normal sort of waiting times around 40 - 60 minutes in my experience.I think all breakdown companies charge for parts as someone else mentioned this.

Great deal

Voted HOT, HOT, HOT!

Great for those that don't wish to order through Groupon for only £39

You've been with them 3 years?

So you are aware they sold out to another business earlier this year???
Now run by Right Choice Insurance Brokers Limited?
Google them

I've been with them about 10 years. I very much doubt I'll make it 11.

Start rescue. Is same sort of price and no paying yourself

Not really. Check out their definition of 'National Recovery' which is rather different to the usual definition most breakdown services (including auto-aid) adopt

I used them once when I got stuck on the M25, 100 miles from home. They called out a local repair garage for me and then organised a tow all the way home. No questions asked. No charge to me. Absolutely fantastic.

I am sure that the AA and RAC would have done the same however they never have anyone in my area and so prefer the local repair companies.

so what happens if you need a new part, do you pay this your self and can you claim it back?

This isn't a deal, it's the usual price, I've been with them for years and the price has gradually crept up to this level.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned the 13.2% cash back through Quidco.

I've been with them for several years, called them out a few times and my wife has called them out once. They cover you and your spouse for ANY car - so are much better than those tied down to a single person or vehicle. I have never had to pay up front, although their T&Cs said this was the case - maybe it depends on the cost or type of callout? I have always found their service to be as good as I could expect - and they prioritized my wife's callout as she was alone at night.

Regarding the takeover, yes I too have my concerns, but it looks as if the issues with the new owner are about costs and quotations, not the service provided. So, I've just signed up for another year and I'll see how it goes. The helpdesk has not changed and if the service remains the same, I don't really care who owns the business.

However, I renewed via the Groupon offer that popped up just at the right time for me - only saved a couple of quid, but also got cashback, so "every little helps".:3

Of course not - this is roadside assistance, not a warranty. If the car has a serious fault you'll have to pay the garage for labour too...... just as you would with the AA or RAC.

Do you think anyone would cover you for assistance, parts and labour for £40??

Your car has to be less than 10 years old.

mine 12 years old does it still qualify, where does it state that?

I have been with them for several years, my car is over 10 years old and I've never been denied service.

I've just gone through their policy again and there is no mention of an age limit.
Yes, you have to keep it roadworthy and have an MOT if required, but no age.

Same deal but at £29.25 via Groupon. a few weeks ago hotukdeals.com/dea…479

Edited by: "PAULTRD" 1st Dec 2016

I have just remembered that my wife recently got a puncture on the m25 and needed to be recovered home on a flat bed. This time there were no upfront charges to be reclaimed. So in my TWO experiences AutoAid were really good.

went through groupon deal, i get £9 off with code and also top cashback, after cashback it comes to £28

Sorry guys, I was convinced it said it on last year's policy or during sign up. I have since switched provider for an unrelated reason though, so haven't renewed again since they changed hands. But was very happy with this cover. Amazing value.

I've dropped them a quick email to ask. I need closure on this.

start rescue is the way forward, similar price but you get free motor legal protection insurance which means you can take it off your car insurance policy saving around £25 a year .
