cheapest with Bluetooth. anyone comet on the sound quality?

Would anyone really want a Tevion unit inside their car? I mean for cheap electronics fine maybe a tevion usb stick, tevion freeview box, but that unit no matter how many features looks absolutely shockingly bad..would anyone proudly display that in their dashboard I wonder!

Last years model of their Tevion Radios were decent and pleasing on the eye but i do agree that it looks truly awful. Not many would have that in their car.

I'd certainly never buy another Aldi/Tevion car radio.

I got one - GREAT features & value in theory (though nowhere near as grotesque as this one)... fitted it and found that it drained the battery even when OFF and that it REQUIRED a power circuit that was turned off by the CAR and not by the unit (which my car doesn't have).

Their helpline said that was a feature rather than a design flaw!

Fortunately I was able to return it for a refund, but not a refund of all the time wasted on fitting it, and the disruption caused by it flattening my car battery overnight!

Paid a bit more, for slightly fewer features, with a Kenwood branded one that has worked beatifully.

In fairness thats not a fault or feature of Tevion more to do with you needing a loom adaptor compatible with your car, when I bought my Panasonic car stereo it came with a loom adaptor with switchable leads to change the ACC voltage for the problem you mention dependent on your car,

Back to my original thought on this unit though, who in the right mind would want such an ugly monstrosity int their car.

They also do it in black, looks much nicer!

is out of stock in my local:(:(:(

Ugliest CD player I have ever seen.

anyone know if this is coming back into stock? or is a goner?

bump!

That is one ugly looking stereo!

It's not as cheap (£68), but I've had the Wharfedale bluetooth car stereo from Argos for about 12 months now and the features and quality are brilliant, plus has a numeric keypad for dialling. Sound quality is also really good.

With that wharfdale one are you able to use the USBstick in "random play" mode, thats what my current car stereo lacks and its very anoying having to randmoise the songs before loaing onto the stick. Also does it have an external microphone for the hands free calling or is it built into the stereo itself as on my car the radio fis down by the gearstick so may not pick up my voice well.

Your reply is appreciated (with rep!)

Well, I'm not going to look at it much when I'm driving. Great specs for the price. Must be worth a gamble?

Nice features for the price - brand snobs not like it cause it does twice as much as their one that cost twice as much to buy

PS - where's the USB and SD Card slot?

Not sure about random play in USB mode, never used it, I use it to play music from my phone via bluetooth so can set random play on my phone. I'll give it a go next time I'm out though and let you know.

As for the handsfree, Mic is built in to the head unit, mine too is low down on console by gear stick and have never had a problem with people hearing me, even with windows down so resembles a wind tunnel inside car

I've owned a few head units in my time and this one is by far and away the best I've come across unless your willing to spend £100's on a highend unit.

If your not into Branding? Hell why not!

Got a Tevion stereo I managed to pick up in Aldi for around £35 earlier in the year, no bluetooth but a fantastic unit. Looks great too, much better than the one posted here, though I don't think that one looks too bad either! Really, if you've just got the factory stereo in your car, anything's going to be an improvement. If it's got the features and the useability that's all that counts.

Yes, with aftermarket stereos and many cars you might need a loom adapter (few £ on ebay depending on model car)

One thing that ****** me off about my Tevion is that it doesn't have bullet connectors going to the live/constant source. This of course meant that on switching on/off power would mean losing all radio and EQ presets. This was solved by a bit of force, sticking a needle in the spade connectors and rewiring. Would have been a 2 second job if they'd used standard bullet connectors instead of wires with differing fuses/enclosures half way down them and just used a damn blade fuse on the back of the stereo!

Now that's sorted I've also got the nice red LED flashing on the stereo from the constant source to the battery, and of course no lost presets! If you're not sure what you're doing, make sure you do a little research before hand as you don't want to wake up to a flat battery.

like the one from argos and gets good reviews, shame I can't find one for sale anywhere

Picked up one of these earlier today from cardiff bay and have to say it seems really good so far. Loads of features, really nice sound on it (far better than the standard factory fitted unit I had before in my astra), and most surprising of all, it actually looks great in the black colour! Big screen, nice finish, good display.
Also comes with all the leads you need to hook up an external player via aux in or usb (though you do have to get connectors for your particular car - don't go to halfords unless you want to pay way over the odds) and is pretty simple to install.
I admit the silver version does look plasticy and crap, but to be fair so do lots of other branded car stereos.
All in all a great buy, thanks op have some rep.

None in cardiff pentwyn, kam1nsk1 how many did Cardiff bay have?

Don't know they didn't have them on display I had to ask and the bloke went out the back and got me one.

I asked if they had it in black and he said something about having a look through the box so I get the impression there were loads of them:)

ok I may pop down tomorrow, thanks for the reply rep added

Well I nipped into the local store and got the tevion unit, looks quite nice in my car (black) and shock of all shocks, it's got better sound quality than the Sony head unit I just took out!!!

Streams music from my phone no problem and picks up the bluetooth automatically once paired. Only tried one phone call with the bluetooth but the other person said I sounded very faint indeed, will try another couple of calls but if it's bad it's going back.

Yes the UI is a bit naff and the buttons creak when you press them but for the money quit impressed.

Tried some more calls and compared direct to my other BT speaker system it's just as good so that's a pass from me

anyone know when these will be back in/ will they be back in
or has anyone seen them anywhere recently?

May be good, but I wouldnd risk being the firest to buy...
