cool bro

The 10 point "safety" check seems more like "10 things we can try to sell".

£20 is already cheap than most garages, have some heat

These lot WILL find something that "needs" doing - beware

Exactly. Few years back, had van in to Kwik Fit for MOT. 'Needed' nearly £700 worth of work doing. Went to another garage for another MOT, was around £250 and over half of the items not even listed on failure sheet. Even when I pointed out things Kwik Fit had flagged up.....guy says the condition of those parts were more than satisfactory.

Cheap MOTs are cheap for a reason. They have to recoup the cost somewhere.

I would avoid these guys....they failed my car for MoT with a reported faulty reverse light and few other jobs, they charged £86 for one tyre replacement and headlight alignment. £47 in kwik fit to replace the tyre and they didn't even need to align the headlights. I bought the bulbs to replace the reverse light and found out it worked perfect. Took it back and told them all the jobs have been rectified and they passed the mot hoping the headlights were done when it was not misaligned in the first place. Worst of all they charged £14.99 by the Cheltenham branch for the retest because I got some jobs done by myself and the tyres by kwik fit. I would avoid

I partially agree....had both cars serviced and mot for £99 each and never failed an MoT at the broadway garages in Andover. Used them for 4 years and cars passed with hardly any advisories. I will be using them in the future despite the fact that I have to drive for 1hr 15mins to the garage but it's worth it. Avoid F1 garages though....

Not true in my experience, one of the most honest and trustworthy garages I have ever some across, and the customer service at head office is excellent!

Chances are f1 offered you a better tyre, and kwik fit fitted you a budget tyre - unless you can tell me otherwise? Let's not forget the fact that f1autocentres have been on many hotukdeals with the cheapest branded tyre offers

Reverse light is not part of the MOT.

Hmmm.. That £20 MOT could end up costing you a small fortune depending on how thorough their inspection process is.

I'll stick to my local garage MOT even if it does end up costing me and extra £12. This way I won't have to pay out the £50+ to get my brake pedal rubber replaced..
Yes, it's technically a failure

The devil you know.

its best to go to a MOT testing centre instead of a garage that does MOT.
if you go to a garage they will put faults on your car that wouldnt need doing .
I pay £45 , then you know the job is done properly

For £20 the will definitely be loosing money on the MOT.

For a company to do that they must be confident of recouping it in other ways...

Guys its best to go to Government Approved Council MOT centres.i agree they charge full, but they have no vested interests to earn money as they dont do repairs. unlike garages which offer cheaper MOT just to recoup the costs elsewhere by failing them. eg. one of my friends car MOT was failed becoz of brake pads, went to council MOT-no failure mentioned by them n got passed the VOSA MOT.
Hope this gelps.

F1 auto centre is wembley/harrow is amazing. I only get MOT there not tried the the servicing or tyre service. They deffo dont fail for no reason as in my case car failed on two occasions and ive taken to my servicing garage who have rectified and F1 have done a free retest and passed the MOT.

While your in there, they will hard sell you everything from tyres to tracking

£26.99 @ Crawley even with the free summer check, definitely branch specific or they've caught on.

My experience at the Harrow branch was the exact opposite. Luckily I had enough experience under the bonnet to know they were talking out of their sphincters. Someone without any knowledge would have been taken for over a hundred quid.

Later found out but talking to others in the trade that they are known for it.

My wife had an mot at F1. Car had about 12k on it. Passed but recommended Aircon recharge and clean (in Jan) coolant change, brake fluid change...etc etc about £250 of sales add ons.

Good price, I've had problems with f1 in the past tho. I've found the best places for an "honest' mot is a specific mot centre that has no garage.

kwik fit. do a resonable job. used them for years. If they do cock up they admit it and pay out. They lost a center wheel cap. could get no more. so they put new set of tyres on. I do now keep to one mechanic at garage

Avoid like the plague!! Took the wifes car in for an MOT elsewhere and it failed on 2 minor parts (exhaust and something else I can't remember) Left her a note and told her to take it into F1 for the exhaust fix... She phoned me a few hours later telling me that £950 of repairs were necessary in order to get it through the MOT... tyres, brakes, exhaust, lights. Drove up and spoke to them with the failed MOT document in hand and their face said it all, they blamed poor paperwork and told me that the quote was for someone else and got mixed up (despite it had the correct plate number, mileage and original exhaust problem mentioned on it) Think they all walk like John Wayne in F1.

You would save yourself time and money by just sending them £200 and not even turning up

Cold
Took my car here through some voucher scheme ages ago & they will literally try to find things wrong with your car (and charge over inflated prices for 'repair'). When they failed it I thought I'm not having this & took it to another place who passed it?!

Administration should remove this as there are renown for 'finding' issues that are not there - to compensate for the 'free' MOT. Never trust them, or any offer like this. I know I'm in the trade.

a garage pays per mot token slot around £3 each plus staff to do it plus equipment etc the only way to make a profit on a mot that cheap is by failing things that shouldn't fail unless your car 3 or 4 years old I'd avoid these monkeys!

Would give this lot a wide berth.

Stay away from this cowboy company. Took my car for major service once. They gave me a bill for £500. I took it elsewhere for a second assessment, and said nothing is wrong with it. They even told me the service was not carried out. They showed me the oil condition which was the same as prior. I took it back to F1 Bedford branch and they stated they had done the oils change. I then took it back to then called AA autocare centre for a service. Sorry this is a Arctic cold for me.

Try a council run MOT place, they have no incentive to fail it, if you don't have one close to you then try the good garage scheme or word of mouth. Cheap MOT's are usually just to get you in the door, also before you go take 10 mins to give it a check over yourself. Unless you car is fairly new and well maintained I would avoid "cheap" MOT's.

Using the following should save more in the long run than any discount MOT:

moneysavingexpert.com/tra…mot

goodgaragescheme.com/

They are a bunch of crooks! They make up for the cheap MOT by finding/creating issues!

Hot from me.

I always take my mums car and mine for cheap mot's and I've never had an advisory on either let alone a repair bill.

My mums car is 11 years old now to.

thanks for the comments.. won't be booking with the cowboys
