No different from any local car wash then?
There a very small amount of people (me and you included) who know what swirls are. I've found it's best to leave the others to it otherwise they'll look at you like you're crazy when you try to explain

So every 8 days, he works. 2 days and sleeps 2 nights at the fire station, unless they have a call out. Every couple of months he gets a block of 8 DAYS OFF, and twice a year he gets a block of 12 DAYS OFF! He also gets the usual 21 DAYS HOLIDAY entitlement + bank holidays to fit in amongst all this time off.Fortunately to fill all this time off he does window cleaning, delivery driving, house removals, gardening, electrical work, building work, plumbing etc. ALL CASH IN HAND!He also goes on holiday abroad at least 5 times a year and always drives a new MERCEDES or BMW.Putting all this to one side, these fireman risk their lives for us and think this car wash gesture is fantastic. I personally would donate £10 for them to wash my car at one of these events. However my friend, the fireman valets my car every other Tuesday for £5 cash. If they do it next year I'll do it, my fireman is 50 then and is retiring, with a big lump sum and nearly full wage pension....Fireman, respect to you all, I couldn't do it........

They don`t retire at 50 anymore do they ?

Good cause - if I remember on the 18th I'll pop along

I'd be more worried about what damage they would do,I mean have you seen the size of a firemans hose, all that pressure would probably smash her back doors in oO

It all depends on how much you can earn "cash in hand, tax free between 50-60" weigh that up in how much your pension would be cut down, better to let the young fireman get a go....

You can retire at 55 with a massive hit on your pension but you need to work till 60 and do 40 years if you want a full pension. Pension costs a fireman over 300 a month out there wage. So they pay to retire early. I'm in the job and believe me you don't want a fireman at 60 rescuing you. Early 50's and they struggle. We see it all the time. Ticking time bomb for the future

Yes you pay £300 pension, but is this not outweighed by the the fact you only work 2 days a week and 2 nights every 8 days, then do other jobs for cash, or if not have a better life than people who work hard 5 days every 7, and some more!

and then you get police and nhs staff working 2x 12hrs shifts, day off and back for 1 or 2 12hrs shifts depending on a rota. they get abused, punched, risk their lives and get **** money for doing so...

It's still a 42 hour week, I don't know any colleagues that work for cash it would be stupid, the reason they usually have to do another job is their wage can't support them and a family.

Maybe they deserve it for risking their life, not many jobs require you to do that.
You come across as bitter, did you go for a medical at same time as your mate and fail it?

if some of you think being a fireman is an easy job then why dont you join?

Hot from me and all to a good cause

sounds like a 42 hour working week to me, more than the national average!
there are some perks (the money and new pension definitely aren't some of them!) but as you say, it's not for everyone.
and when they're needed, you wouldn't want a finer band of people looking out for your welfare

Regardless of the coshty of the job when it comes to a fire these men will not hesitate to put there lifes at risk even when they have a family with children, seems like a good charity and something I feel should be paid by our tax rather then people who purposly go out there way to make illness and excused to not work aswell as dying there her pink then claiming they can't find a job or tatoo there face

Question:

Why is this deal hot? Is it because you can get your car washed for 1p or is it because you are supporting fireman? or is it some sick mixed up version of the two ie: get your car washed for 1p and feel great about yourself because the 1p is going to charity.
I will answer it for you: donate 1p
