In the theme of recent posts about free courses. I looked up the Scottish ILA, Individual Learning Accounts. It has been replaced by ITA, Individual Training Accounts.

This is all run via My World of Work. You can claim up to £200 towards a vocational training course. Had a look through and there are things from ECDL to Minibus Licence category upgrades.

It won't be for everyone and sorry, may not be national. By all means have a debate about the North South divide, there is a Misc section for that political bickering.

The site also will give you wee bit of career guidance, a psychometric test to show strengths, CV builder, etc. No harm in having a look. I'll update this if anyone knows of a UK wide scheme on a similar theme.

Is an Individual Training Account right for me? You could receive up to £200 towards a single course or training episode per year. ITA funding could be right for you if you're:

  • 16 or over, not in education or involved in any other SDS funded programme
  • Unemployed and looking to get back into work
  • Employed in a low-income job and looking to progress in your career
  • Resident in Scotland
How to apply You can search for ITA courses and apply online. You’ll need a valid email address and your National Insurance number to hand.

Once you’ve applied for funding, we’ll send you a confirmation email with instructions on how to book your course. To book a place, you’ll need to prove your income. We’ll send details of the documents you can use in your confirmation email.

You'll have eight weeks from the time your application is successful to make a booking.

Read our ITA privacy statement before applying.

I don’t see any new posts in Misc. So I guess there are better deals out there than £200 funding towards career training.

If only someone could tell me where. I’d love to take one of them up.

Why have people downvoted this? This site is atrocious sometimes.

Have some heat, i have used ila in the past

As I said, if England isn't included or missing out then.......

I’m happy if 1 person benefits.

Do you think it is cheap enough for Margarine?

Be careful if you take up these free course opportunities. You might find yourself miserable and stuck to a desk during all your free time ,your only comfort being an odd 5 minutes here and there browsing Hot Deals

Heat given because it will benefit others. Shouldn't matter if it's in England or not but if it benefits someone in the UK region. Great find OP
