Carerra road bike £299 @ halfords

If you're after an entry level road bike then seems a decent price. There'll be some critics but I saw it in person last night and it looked pretty good. Says down from over £600.

10% flash sale off between 12-2pm today as well

I've been passed by plenty of carerra bikes. No doubt if this gets a hot rating the red triban will be mentioned (which has only been in stock with tiny frame for a couple if years ) , Then somebody claim they owned this bike and it fell apart. Then there will be links to bikes twice the price by mamils pretending they are tour de France contenders.

good old hukd. - heated as looks pretty good for 300 sheets

This was posted at £225 last week and didn't get much heat then. And before anyone points out that they don't have a time machine I'm just mentioning it so no-one rushes in thinking £299 is an amazing price, it's not, it's just that the RRP is ridiculously over-inflated.

Agreed £600+ is a silly RRP and apologies for missing last weeks deal.

People spend thousands on the initial outlay of their car alone, or indeed hundreds/thousands on public transport... So why not on a bike?

Most people don't travel thousands of miles on a bike.

How do you know that? I know people who cycle circa. 10-15 miles a day to work, then obviously the same back again, actually.

Can I ask why this is becoming an issue and what relevance it has to how far people travel? Have I missed something?

Agreed , nothing to do with the deal. But lots of people do cycle thousands of miles a year. I cycle 30 miles a day for work so over 5k miles a year. All that for £300 is a bargain !!

You get what you pay for, the price isn't overwhelming but if you're on a budget it's not a bad price
Compared to this budget bike chainreactioncycles.com/vit…021 , you'd saved £50 but you wouldn't have the Claris groupset and a carbon fork. The problem with online retailers would be you'd have to assemble it yourself.

I'm not like you rich guys that can afford to buy bad quality. Rather save up for something that will last. Was thinking the canyon inflite al might be a better bet than this with the cycle to work thing.
