Yup

phoni

Presumably that was with a larger upfront payment and hatchback manual. £8,172 for 10k a year estate DSG is not far off from the best deals there were. Add inflation, £ falling relative to Euro and it looks even better.

trickytree1984

Let me do that for you... IF you get 20% off that's 28k. A PCP over 4 years with a 2k deposit and 10k balloon would be £400 a month at 4% ( if you're lucky enough to be prime) Total repayments over 2 years = 9600 plus your 2k that's 11600. But you still don't own it. You can't VT it, you're not halfway on a PCP. So if you settled the loan (you'd need the cash, or to sell to a dealer), you'd also have to factor the depreciation. For you to sell at trade, it's probably going to net you £22k if your lucky. Still that's a 6k loss.. Total cost to you for 2 years is £11,600 in repayments. That's assuming you can sell it, assuming you can get the 20% discount in the first place and assuming the used prices don't fall through the floor. I've been kind and assumed you could settle the finance with the money you sell it for. Meanwhile a lease costs 8k over the same period and you don't have worry about the used market going south.

trickytree1984

Explain please? Over 2 years with 20k miles how are you paying less. Taking into account your monthly repayment (assuming you didn't have £30k cash up front), your deposit and the depreciation. Please break down for me how you could buy this car, pay the monthly repayments (with interest) and sell it, all costing you less than £8k I strongly suspect you can't. Leases are cheaper than PCP, and you don't have the problem of selling the thing

maddogb

although i haven't had one for a few years a company car was a worse con taxwise, for private use you had to pay your tax on it @ %20 of retail value, same again if you got fuel so say 3 year renewal you paid tax on %60 of its retail value, insane tax ripoff.

Had mine a couple of months now, generally very pleased (apart from a couple of minor scratches that it was delivered with!) They let me off the extra £5 because they didn't have any non-metallic options i.e. you couldn't possibly get the price on the website. Tip - get the Carista app and a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 receiver. You can change options like having the mirrors fold when you lock up, having the parking lights on as DRLs, opening the windows from your remote control etc.

apjashley1

Sorted :)

I am currently in the last 6 months of a deal and they keep calling us to try to get us to sign up to a new contract, they seem to have good deals if you are staying with them for your next car.

apjashley1

Contract says 50% of remaining rentals. I've done it before.

Voted hot by me. If a lease is what you're after, this is a good deal. Leasing might be better than purchasing for some people and might carry benefits. However, I'd imagine high emissions on this car would cancel out the price for self employed folk.

jamiebudkiewicz

This is not a good deal. Dealers are offering the Golf R for just over £26k through carwow.com on finance deals.

nathan3007

I believe that is correct, it's like a £35k car if I'm not mistaken

oddballjamie

Surely it's also the size of the monthly payments that affects affordability.

MullacABZ

Worth noting that on credit checks a PCP shows up as the full value of the deal including GFV whereas a lease only flags as the remaining monthly payments. Could be a deal breaker for people considering going for a new mortgage.

no boot and no back seats, they have but not practical.. a very unpracticle car for those lacking in something ;)

People don't vote cold on lease deals if they are genuine great deals. Alltrack was blazing the other week, golf r super hot this week and many in between. This is just a fairly average deal albeit a little cheaper than you can find on other lease sites.

£8,000 to lease a car? Would sooner buy a car plenty of choice for £6-8,0000

Mada06

I have a 5k lease and it's fine, I do around 6k miles per year in that car and pay the excess. Not everyone is a sales rep travelling up and down the motorways.

mike1212

I hope so too my R goes back in Dec. when I ordered it last time it took 6 months so will be keeping an eye on the offers
