Just been dragged along by the wife to Frank's The Flooring Store, formerly Frank's Factory Flooring, and they have an offer on to do your whole house (up to 80 square metres) for £595 including basic underlay, door bars and grippers.
The carpets are not exactly deep pile, but there are loads to choose from. In fact, you can choose any carpet, in store, for £5.99 a square metre and get the deal.
You're basically getting the underlay, grippers and door bars throughout for £115. I think their cheapest underlay was £5.99 a square metre, so that's a canny saving.
Please note that the price doesnt include fitting, which will be around £160 on top.
Also, you don't have to maximise the 80 square metres, they will knock off a percentage if you have less.

Hope this helps anyone looking for a post New Year carpet deal?

Cheers,

CJ

for me just because you prefer wood flooring is not a good reason to vote cold if its not for you dont look at the post you vote on the price

im not saying this deal is good or bad but it does depend on the type of underlay. The carpet is only as good as its underlay.
As for prefer wood lol i have wood and its bl**dy cold!!!!!!!!!! so this has to make carpet hot??????????

Well it might be a good deal if you live on the east coast of england but the nearest store to me is 130 miles away...then you have to add on the delivery costs and the fitting costs...sorry have to vote ....cold

I don't think it's that good a deal. It wouldn't cost that much more to buy for each room seperate as these are not going to be exceptional quality.
+ imagine the amount of hassle preparing your whole house to be carpeted.

exactly what i was thinking, have some heat OP to get rid of that silly person voting cold on there COLD flooring :P

I wouldn't expect a £5.99 carpet to last long. Usually need to spend at least £20/m for something decent.

oO What a reason to vote cold!!!

This is what i do for a living and what he hasn't stated is the quality and quantity. Anyone local to me can probably beat that price. It can't be 1 price for 60sq m and then Joe bloggs down the road has the same rooms but 90 sq m required

I love carpets me!

Best internet advert I've ever! and what a finishing line!!

HOT!!

You probably mean chavvy laminate rather than wood. It's b****y cold too. I prefer PVC with felt underlay. It's warm on your feet and easy to clean. Everyone to their own.

BTW, Frank's The Flooring Store offer is about £10 per sqm. I've seen better offers locally (with underlay and free fitting).

I have a real wood floor. It was in when I moved in. I prefer carpets. If I wanted to walk on wood I would buy a boat.

Franks don't include any door bars, fitting, underlay or grippers in their deals. They change names on carpets because they manufacture their own. Go and get a price off them and see how much this actual "£595" deal costs. Get the price and samples of the carpet and go to an independent and you'll get better carpets for the same price.

Must be rubbish quality and I don't fancy travelling
to the North East from Lancashire to find out. I
suppose I could call at Whitley Bay and look for
the Bird Song clock at half price.

C,mon local offers like these are a bit pointless.

Why would you have to travel to Lancashire? There are plenty of shops In The north east?

I wouldn't call this an astonishing deal, it's just alright. I got my lounge, kitchen, stairs, landing and hall done recently with decent underlay for £450 fitted. Did a really good job of fitting too. Best thing I've ever done to my house though, amazing feeling having a new carpet.

I then got a big cream pure wool rug to protect it/add warmth from Dunelm reduced from £130 to £65

Sorry but real wood is not in the least bit chav, especially not compared to cheap carpet like these.

for landlords we have a local place that fits feltback cord of about 120sq metres and they charge about £380 fitted with door bars.last time they did it a few months ago. with tenants, it tends to last about 7 years if not longer.so this isn't that great really

Not pointless if you live locally

as im in this trade id say this is a rubbish deal, the quality of carpet and underlay will be rubbish and fitting would prob be £200 and overall if you get this id say ud need some new carpet within a few years. Decent carpets would be £15-25 per sqm and would prob last 15 years.

always makes me laugh that when they have all these "sales" and there's no one walking around the stores that's because they make soooo much on carpets they can afford to run these massive stores but then again people will always think this is "cheap". Same as carpetright who always have "80% off sales" but can always keep all these stores open. think people! nothing beats small local supply and fitting business who will give you a good deal.

chavvy!!!

carpet is for fleabags - its a dirt / muck horder.......think of all those lovely germs and poo under your foot in your lovely carpet....yuck

carpet upstairs is fine but downstairs, no thanks

what a moron, no its healthier.....we took up our downstairs carpet that was 3 years old and replaced it with high quality quickstep laminate ...was going to get wooden flooring or real wood flooring but decided against it with kids lol (easily damaged, colder, maintenance, not worth extra cost over quality laminate eg not B&Q/Focus/Wickes stuff, etc)

the amount of dust that came up was disgusting..i dont think id ever have carpet in the lounge again

carpet is chavvy as its generally alot cheaper than wood, muppet (31sqm cost about £530 without fitting and everything else needed)

Lol , save yourself the 595 and put newspaper down instead, it will last longer.

I like wood floors too (in sheds) but NOT going to vote cold.oO
ppl shouldn't vote at all if they haven't got a genuine opinion on the deal.

shame theres none down south, otherwise woulda got this

i gave up trying to lay laminate flooring as i stupidly bought the 'decent' stuff in b&q - dont its a nightmare to lay

i layed some laminate in my 1st house 13 years ago when laminate was a new thing got it from ikea and its MILES better than todays garbage.......you had to glue it but it just slotted together...dead easy and cutting it was easy as the laminate didnt chip easily......tried cutting the B&Q stuff...awful chipped even if i breathed near it

got my neighbour to do it in the end as he's trade and lays for a living....he said its rubbish to cut but teh quality was fine so used it just for the hall.....he advised buying quickstep instead....its more exp think some places its £30 sq/m and costco about £28/m....but went to a local shop for £17 sq/m (B&Q's most exp laminate stuff is about £10 sq/m).....much better and a doddle to lay (slot one panel in at a time rather than 3-4 with b&q rubbish)

as for getting proper wood, no thanks....my 31sq/m floor would cost £3-4K, no thanks

if anyone down south-east (kent area) look up M A Murr and Sons they do a great job and great deals on carpets and fittings.

If your just about to sell your house or have bought buy to let and need to smarten up then surely £600 can't be too bad for a complete carpet make over even if the carpet is a bit naff! Voted HOT by me.
