Further discounts may be available (eg 10% via British Cycling would make it £178.20?).

I'm sceptical about Halfords RRP pricing and the shop itself has a mixed reputation, but if you're looking for a simple, well made bike at a decent price for commuting or leisure riding this would be a pretty good bet while it's at this price. The Carrera brand is respected in the mid price market and at this price the bike represents very good value.

Available in 16", 18" and 20" frame sizes so will suit most from early teens to over 6ft.

Some decent budget components on there.

Free delivery or assembled free for collection from store.

Still garbage... hope you wear a crash hat.

Why so bitter?

Interesting that you've put this on your profile:
"There're more trolls on this website than probably any other in the world."
Perhaps you need to take a look in the mirror!

Thanks for your concern for my head though!

I bloody hope its not garbage. I bought one of these the other day. …I bloody hope its not garbage. I bought one of these the other day.

It's not garbage. It's a decent budget bike with decent budget components. I wouldn't pay the RRP because these things are frequently reduced to a more sensible price, as it currently is.
At this price point disc brakes tend to be very poor. Plenty of £400-500 bikes have Tektro v brakes like this has.
It's nice to see a simple hybrid bike with sensible parts and a good frame being voted hot. Makes a change from the usual rear-suspension, disc brake BSOs (Bicycle Shaped Objects) that are well worth avoiding.

CyclingUK or British Cycling membership should get you another 10% OFF which makes the membership almost pay for itself. You also get liability insurance as part of the membership. Worth doing.

In case of any issues, can you take back to Halfords stores?
Also available via the Halfords website on click & collect fully built.
I have this bike although it was originally called parva and then renamed to Axle, I paid £180 but it has been as low as £159 in the past see link, I purchased mine at the beginning of 2015 and it is a good reliable bike and I have put many miles on it. hotukdeals.com/dea…721

If you buy it from the Halfords Website (same price there) they'll give it a free check after 6 weeks. Presumably it's the same if you buy from eBay, but you could just buy it straight from Halfords to make sure.

"I'm sceptical about Halfords RRP pricing...."

Which bit of that are you struggling with? It's irrelevant - the bike is £198 (or less).

BTW they're Vee brakes, not calipers.

I think we all know where the garbage is in this thread - and it's not the bike!

Not long ago the Subway 1 was at £230 on offer and really its a much better bike. Pretty much the frame is the same I think but the Subway has a freehub drivetrain which is much stronger, smoother shifting and lower maintenance plus it has disc brakes. A much better bike. I'm not keen on the Axle/Parva myself I think Halfords should keep the freewheel based bikes in the Apollo range.
