The Carrera Centos Limited Edition Mountain Bike 2012 features a Suntor XCM - DS26 120mm travel fork with Tektro mechanical brakes.

I've been looking everywhere for a good budget mountine bike this seems to be the best one I can find, seems to have really good reviews and seems similar to The Carrera Kraken which mounting biking uk magazine voted best budget bike is this months issue.

I'm a newbie to mountine biking so any good comment from people who know what there talking about wild be a great help.

"...any good comment from people who know what there talking about wild be a great help."

I think you've misunderstood the site.

The two threads most likely to get comments from people who don't know what they are talking about (me included) will be bicycle deals and IT deals!

For a good budget Mountain Bike I'd stick to the Kraken if you can stretch to it. The majority of the components will be better/lighter. It's won 'awards' for a reason.

yeah...weighs alot for a none rear suspension bike

I looked at this bike last week, it's half price for a reason.
Get some more £ together and go for either the Voodoo Bantu for £400, the Carrera Kraken for £430 or the Voodoo Hoodoo for £499.
I went for the Hoodoo and it's amazing for the money.

This bike isn't half price. It's worth £350 at the most. It's a good entry level bike if a little heavy. If you really want to do proper mountain biking, you'll find the limitations of this bike quite quickly. If you want a general purpose bike that will not fall to bits then this is perfect.

It's a £300 bike. Don;t think of it as anything else.

Thanks for your comments I do like this bike but think I'm edging towards to kraken.

Absolutely rubbish bikes Carrera's .

Absuletly hate Halfords but have to admit the hoodoo and this year's kraken are really good bikes for the money.... If you need a bike now and can't wait for a bargain to pop up on wiggle or Crc etc you can't go far wrong with either of them..... Spend a bit more you won't regret it

There's a review in one of this months magazines Mtb UK I think..( I don't buy them I just read them) for the best £500 hard tail the kraken gets a very impressive review

Just been searching for an entry level bike and ive just bought a cube aim sl29 for 424 at tredz your better off saving a bit more pal it will be worth it in the end.

The Carrera Centos would be a pretty decent bike if it had oilies on it - shame
