A decent spec bike.

If you sign up to British Cycling membership for £23 then it may give you 10% off the bike, therefore a reduction of £48. Note T&C's does state discount cannot be used in conjunction with other instore promotions and discount not applicable on sale items but worth a try.

Not sure why cold. SRAM NX is similar to Shimano SLX spec, though 13kg is slightly hefty.

But for £480, you could sell the old forks for maybe £80-100 and get an airfork for £150-200. I recently got some RockShox 30 Gold for £199. That'd probably take a chunk of the weight off as well.

Nice bike but not sure it represents the same value as their lower end bikes. It looks like the standard Carrera mountain bike frame which is a brilliant strong frame but I'm sort of thinking maybe I'd rather go with a cheaper Carrera utilising the same frame and upgrade at my leisure but then I'm not really a Sram fan preferring Shimano and I think I'd rather have a different front shock too if spending this money. Reviews seem great though and many more expensive bikes out there with the same components.

It has to be said these Carrera frames are absolutely bombproof but Voodoo and Boardman exist as a more performance orientated option over Carrera maybe with double or triple butting they may not even be as strong as the Carrera frames but I think the end result is for someone who wants to be competitive offroad and wants a slightly lighter bike they might be better options. Also at this price point there is more competition from go outdoors, decathlon and last year's clearance bikes from many bike dealers. You have many more options if you have £500 in your pocket to spend.

Its not the best fork in the world but it does have a 120mm air fork - the bike only costs £480...
