Who makes up this rubbish marketing text 'Rigid steel fork for controlled steering' so any other other type of fork you have uncontrolled steering?

Voted hot, looks very decent for the money.

Doesn't have suspension!

That's another reason it's a good buy.
Also; it's a road bike, not a mountain bike. Why would it have suspension?

That's a shame, no 53cm size frame near me. Would have done nicely to replace my old Btwin Rockrider for basic commute.

It doesn't say only a steel fork provides controlled steering though and compared to horrible wobbly 28mm suspension forks you find on cheap bikes it will be more controlled.
As a comparison the pinnacle lithium one is £220 at Evans cycles, though the new ones have gained weight since I bought one. Still marginally lighter than the Carrera, but fewer gears and worse brakes.
Can’t order or deliver 53cm

I think Carrera's are rated to the full recommended weight limit of the bicycle certification standard 160kg total load with up to 120kg for the rider. I'm unsure of Evan's Pinnacle range but fairly sure Go Outdoors bikes are rated up to 120kg total load. Basically if you are making the bike stronger to meet the certification standard you will need more material and the certification is mainly about the frame and forks. I had a feeling that Pinnacle was more more like the Go Outdoors rating with 120kg total load but not sure. Like all shop brands Evan's will be constantly looking to change factory to get a better price and remain price competitive so its possible they have changed factories. Halfords do it all the time.

It fooled me, though if you do find stock near your location you can reserve.

Great commuter bike. Worth spending more for a Boardman but if you dont want to spend more then this is fab!
I’ve tried 10 relatives postcodes all over the UK for a 53cm, not one single one is available. Great deal but I’m quite disappointed that there are seemingly none left anywhere!!

Google. Merchants are required to waffle absolute hyperbole as, 'unique content' gets them up the rankings. Plus certain buyers might think there's a partial cutlery set included if the wording was brief.
Can anyone tell me how this compares to the brand X road bike

Trek Dualsport is heavy overpriced junk. Giant Escape would be a far better buy

To test this theory I looked up what it would've cost me to buy my bike in Germany or France; I would've saved less than 5%.
Possibly you're comparing supermarket BSOs in other countries with bikes in the UK.

That's rated, XXS on my sidze chart. Hope that helps and hope that 48cm, is a fit (for you).
Check how it'll look in the Garage propped up against the Boiler covered in coats and offcuts of Carpet.. because that's where it''l be most of the time

Actually the UK seems to have some great prices compared to the US and Europe I think we are quite competitive. We have major chains doing factory to retail direct selling like Halfords and many direct sellers on the internet like Planet X delivering great value. Also there seems to be lower prices on secondhand bikes where as in the USA secondhand prices seem higher for the same bikes as people are more resistant to selling at low prices in the US it seems. Which bicycles are 3x the price?
This So not a road bike. The title was miss letting when I click on the link in email. For that reason alone its cold to me. Then I read the crap that the seller is saying. Jesus I'm no expert but I know my bicycles and to state that is utter tosh.
I volunteer at local bicycle charity. Its called life recycle just off the a30 I'm Cornwall on the out skirts if cambornr town. So I have a pretty good idea about bikes.
If you want a good bike create a hybrid mountain bike or road bike and and you don't want to pay the price of what the RP or what your local store is selling it then consider looking for something similar to the life recycle I work for you might pick up a bargain but there could be some damage to the paintwork etc but should be mechanically sound and been checked
Is this bike better than the Felt seven seventy ?

Apollos, their budget bikes, can have dreadful, vague, cheap muck "suspension" forks, so the lighter rigid forks are an improvement
I've took a gamble on the 48cm size, what height would this be suitable for as I might have to put myself on a hot wash with tumble dry? According to sizing on Halfords it's for 5ft 9' to 6ft 1'.

This is not a 'lightweight' bike. Not at all. Fair for the price I guess, nothing special.

They may be bouncy or sag too much and not work for very long but they still steer in you in the right direction. Totally agree about rigid forks being better though and have been stating that for a long time but for other reasons.

Well, with the amount of play in the absolute muck bushes they aim in the general direction anyway, they also weigh about twice the weight of even a budget Suntour fork

Fair point about play in cheap forks but I think budget Suntour forks can start about about 2.5kg and some of these cheap forks are actually lighter than that because they are weak and have stanchions that are only 25.4mm in diameter hence the flexing you mention. Suntour forks start heavy and tend to get lighter as you go up in price to a degree depending on stanchion diameters and their use. I pretty much avoid suspension forks myself unless its a real mountain bike so admit I'm not too familiar with them in general. I do remember pushing down on a some cheap suspension in toys r us years ago on a child's mountain bike probably 24" wheels so not a tiny size and the suspension just locked in the bottom position. I wasn't sure if the camera's saw me so calmly left the store, that was the Bristol store. I just wanted to see how much travel the suspension had, quite a lot actually but only in one direction.
48cm still available. Delivery too!
