Usual over inflated RRP. A good bike for the money (£300) but you can't pretend it should ever have cost £600!

Well you can 'pretend', but i think everyone knows it isn't worth it!

The Quidco 10% is instant with code B14BK04 at checkout making it £269, the cashback is then 3%

I feel everyone should just recylce bikes on gumtree, bikes should last 20+years with few services, and much cheaper and enviromental friendly;)

Seems to be within my budget at £269 but can someone tell me if this is good value at the price?

thanks

Si

just had a quick look about and struggling to find anything better for the price ........but its at its right price with the reductions

Ok thanks, will reserve one

OR the new B'twin Rockrider 500 £269.99, SRAM X4 components, SRAM chainset, and most importantly lifetime warranty on frame.

If you want to go out on a weekend for an hour or two on gravel paths, through woods or Bridleways it'll be fine. Want to do more than that without it falling apart, you'll need to pay more. Good deal for what it is!

This isn't a bike. It's a Bike Shaped Object.

Real bikes allow you to merge sexually with them. We all know this.

Thanks.

I'd say the carrera are one of my favorite bikes.
It will last as long and do anything another much more expensive bike will do with a few differences.
cheaper gears may mean slower and occasional slipped gears.
heavier means might be harder work uphill.
cheaper suspension might compromise grip on bumpy corners.

I've had a few past models and been very impressed with the frames and build quality.
as good as some of the high end GT / Kona and marin I have owned.
Only bike frames Ive had that Id say were significantly nicer are the cannondale.

Anyone know if you can combine the Quidco 10% code with a British Cycling one?

Don't take any notice of the RRP this is not A £600 bike, even at £300 it is not a bargain.

Never liked mechanical disc brakes but at 260 it's a good deal.

Suntour XCM forks are no good for anything than looking like suspension forks, but Suntour SCR or Epicon are acceptable and are available on ebay for a cheap upgrade.

Well maybe you should start cycle without the brakes.

I could do with a spare for the missus

The website has broken down, I just hope the bike technicians are better than their I.T. technicians!

I'd love to see the weirdo that paid £600 on big brother

I know it is described as such in the OP, but thought I should point out that this has 27.5 inch wheels (650b) rather than the usual 26 inch for standard mountain bikes or the 29 inch wheels of, err... 29ers!

Just something to be aware of re sizing and also availability of parts etc. although this may be a non issue now they are becoming more available (but I admit I haven't really considered getting one so haven't looked into it much).

I bought this bike last week when there was £20 off a £200 spend....it cost me a grand total of £226. I used the halfords voucher scheme and my british cycling scheme to get a further 10% off

i think ou'd struggle to buy 27.5" innertubes! If you're out riding with friends, you can always borrow/steal an inner tube should someone's go down.

Carrera are phasing out their 26" bikes in favour of 650b and Boardman have already done it. 650b will be the new standard.

^ What he said.

Or the Rockrider 5.3: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-53-mountain-bike-white-id_8206682.html

Can't get much better than a Decathlon bike at this price range.

A 26" tube will stretch to fit. In any case, my local halfords has 650b tyres & tubes on the shelves.

Find us something better for £260.
I'm buying, just can't decide on which colour to choose

I bought a Carrera Vulcan in 2010 for £220. I hated cycling before buying this bike as the bikes I bought previously were useless and uncomfortable but I kept trying. Its the best bike I've ever bought and use it all year round. It still looks in great condition with no faults at all.
I'd recommend Carrera and would snap it up at this price today.

This code doesn't work anymore... Any other?

Anyone have a working code?

yes code seems to be ended any more available?

I agree it was never worth £600 but definitely good at this price along with the other Halford's discounts you can apply.

289 now.

OOS now.
