Carrera Titan ltd edition at halfords for £269.99! (with code)

I have this bike & I my mate was interested in buying one. I paid £300 about 2 months ago & have hurled quite a bit of abuse at this bike (also myself) & it's a good piece of kit for the price but it's available for a smidge under £270 now.

Just use the code AFFBKE3 at the checkout to see the discount.

I have to say, it's a nice bike for the money & capable, I've had it down a couple of championship downhill courses & no issues whatsoever

I'm 5'11 & it's a good fit for me

Anyone care to cast an opinion over how good or bad this one is for the price?

Depends what you are looking for really. Not great components but have to admit it does look quite nice and obviously the OP is riding it off road so must be alright. Seems pretty good for the price.

Not sure what "general knocking about" means but I wouldn't advise a mountain bike for commuting 11 miles and especially not a full suss.

I use a hybrid for commuting no sus, v brakes and it's fast. Can also go on light non tarmac tracks with ease. This is the sort of bike that is designed for off road.

Good price OP. If it's held up to that then must be pretty decent. Carrera get a bad rap from brand snobs but I have had one and it was a good bike.

Never had an issue with Carrera, one of my mates has had a banshee from halfords & has had 2 years of pretty heavy use with it & it's still going strong needing only new pedals due to wear.

At this price I think you'd struggle to find anything as capable for new.

Agreed. Only real downsides I can see are no lock out - not sure how important that is as don't ride off road and Halfords website is ridiculous. Wanted to see how heavy it is cos they don't include on specs. Someone had asked the same question 4 months ago and they didn't even bother responding!

A couple of the reviews are laughable too. Some guy complaining about weight and drag - whilst comparing it to a road bike - moron and another guy complaining about punctures - which sounds to me like duff tubes.

Like I said, I think it is a great price for an introduction to MTBing. Should be hotter than it is. But unfortunately people on this site go for £50 full suss from Tesco and Sports Direct.

Weighs about 15kg's, it's easily throwable & I chuck it up on my high car easily enough & have carried it over my head a few times.
As for no lockout, not a major problem as you can stiffen them up pretty well so uphill progress isn't much affected.

Mega cheap bikes are a false economy, they weigh more than the moon & rust up when a raincloud as much as appears overhead & wouldn't be upto the abuse you are gonna want to put it through. The other half wanted a bike & was looking at cheap £100 jobs so I went & bought her the ladies version of this because I know it will atleast last a few years

this ^

i looked at this a couple of weeks ago, they had one in stock within a million miles which i reserved to just look at to see if it was any good

they called me to say it was a display bike and did i still want it, i said i really wanted a bigger size i only reserved it to look at in store, he said he'd call and ask if he can get a bigger new one delivered to store and i'd get a call back within minutes

i still have not had the call, sacked halfords off and bought a specalized online instead

Atleast one available in Dundee. I think it may be worth asking if they can get one & call them back for confirmation if you really want it.

Just to say I really couldn't care less about whether any deal I post gets "hot". Like Tre Azam off The Apprentice said and I couldn't find a vid for - "You're nothing to me"!

Aside from that this is a really good offer and if I had a budget of £300 and was looking for a MTB I would definitely buy. A "branded" bike of this spec would be at least £400.

And as long as you maintained this bike you would still get £200 for it after a year.

It's a great deal and has reached 83% - LOL.

Admittedly Halfords website is a joke and the fact that they offer a Q&A section - but don't bother answering questions. Am I surprised? NO - many companies that have gone online just seem to be so shoddy.

They have the Amazon model staring them in the face... and ignore it - their loss.

I will agree that the Halfords site is a joke & the staff in stores can be a bit of a joke. The Halfords nearest to me has a good bike tech, not a people person but he knows his way around a bike, whereas the one I was at yesterday (picking up other halfs new bike) was personable but obviously learnt what he knows about bikes from a book & had no real technique.

This code 'AFFBKE3' does not work on that bike in the Halfords shop.
