I have one. Great spec for the money and good quality.

I've got an older Carrera Vengence. Very good bike for the price.

Reserved one, thanks!

Anything better around from decathlon etc or is this best bang for buck for the spec

I'd always get decathlon for their unbeatable warranty. good price and spec here though

Don't forget the triple stack trick with code/gift vouchers/quidco to get another 22% off!!

Sounds good...how do you get code and gift vouchers?

Got one last year absolute bargain!!

I am getting a bike to put in my car and commute from park and ride also some cycling in the park with my daughter I was looking at the carrera crossfire 2 as it's hybrid I am told would be a good choice or would this be better seems it's the same price

Camping offer also working on bikes, so can buy this bike then add 25£ worth of campng equipment free!

good price nice find

Camping offer doesn't work. It shows £25 off in the basket, but when you go to pay, halfords asks full price.

Sorry assumed it would work as it came off in basket

Remember there is no lockout on the fork for climbing those hills and no hydraulic brakes , apart from that nice wee bike

Excellent find, heat added. Very good entry level spec. They are manual disc brakes, but for the price it looks great value, tempted.........

Recommend you ride any new bike before buying it, dare I say it, test a few different bikes to see which you prefer? RRP on this is just silly but aren't they all.

Terrible reviews on the brakes, to the point they are dangerous.

I had the much more widely praised BB7 mechanical discs on my road bike, nightmare. Had to go hydro in the end, granted they cost as much as this entire bike.

Like the spec much, while the price is still steep for a bike.

Just like to say I built bike yesterday and have rode bike and I can honestly say for the money it's well worth it.bike rides lovely and gearing is superb.

Not all bikes are the crap you see at sports direct/Tesco etc

looks like a nice bike but where it says "Was £429.99" it should say Was never £429.99 X)

Seems a higher spec, and cheaper, than the equivalent Decathlon Rockrider 520. Don't expect much other than bounce from the fork, there's no rebound adjust - but it'll get some of the bumps soaked up at least.

Well-maintained mechanical disc brakes are fine. I've had something similar to these Tektros on a Carrera Gryphon some time ago, without issue. I've also been running Avid BB7s on a commuter for 3 years. If you want to upgrade, you can get a set of hydraulic discs from chain reaction for £70: chainreactioncycles.com/sra…146.

Always been a fan on Carrera bikes, you just have to make sure they're set up properly. Take it to your local bike shop, or learn how by watching a few YouTube vids.

You're moving close to second hand car money at this price, so cold. Plus then you don't annoy paying road users by getting in their way!

Regarding brakes: Avid BB7's can be had brand new for less than £40 on eBay. I seriously wouldn't bother with any other mechanical brakes (maybe TRP Spyres?). Reason is that on all other brakes the fixed pad cannot be adjusted, meaning that you either have to put up with rubbish braking after a few miles or adjust them closer to the disc. On the BB7's both pads can be wound in and out, making adjusting for wear a 5 second job.

RRP is a joke as ever but decent bike for the money + the 22% off trick as ever with halfords deals. Heat.

All the info in this thread here

It was made slightly easier because there was a 10% off bikes code kicking around anyway but I think that's expired now

It does make me wonder if HUKD sponsor/pay for b*ll-end comments like we've seen a couple of above.
Clearly these people have too much spare time on their hands that they are prepared to post in deals they have no interest in. Best to ignore.
My son has this bike already and this is a cracking deal - hot.

I'd recommend that if you're going buy a bike, then look at terrain or places you're going be using on first.
Then look at budget for you have and speak to expert, or possible independent shop to get more advise.
I would only purchase Specialize myself, either road or off road, have one of each, wouldn't touch anything else, you pay for quality and expect the best with specialize, never let me down through 5 x triathlons and some off road adventure racing, or just for leisure with the other half, Top bikes - Specialize!!

No reason why you need to spend that much here though, Deores are more than enough for the bikes capabilities and they can be had for under £70 a set. Would be the most worthwhile upgrade to this bike for sure.

Sorry, no idea. As I said, I used a 10% off bikes code that was kicking around.
The Halfords vouchers will come within 1-2 working days and the 10% off code for them is still working fine.

Lol. Specialize. Pay through the nose so have to justify it to yourself.

Voted hot. Though I don't think there's much point buying an off road bike in this price range. It won't be very good for safe and fun off road riding. And will be slow and heavy for road or commuting.

You don't want front suspension for that - adds weight for no real benefit.
Are you sure a normal bike will fit in your car? If so you'll still want a light one for lugging in and out.

HOT deal.

Great find. My father-in-law bought me this bike. Good solid bike. Brakes were crazy good, however, it was only used for 4 months then I sold it. I need to buy this so he doesn't find out lol.
