Certainly not 50% off! Decent frame, workable fork, groupset seems low end, but a decent bike for the money.

Got one in summer and is ok.

My Vulcan is still going strong after 5 years. It will last at least another 10 or more. I paid £225 and is the best bike I ever owned.

Probably a fair price for this, especially considering the wheel size of 27.5"

Loved my Vulcan until a smackhead nicked it from work.

only S left..

Old model though, nowhere near 50% off retail

Its not an old model this is the latest one. Mind you i wouldnt be suprised if a new one is coming in 2016.

I had a subway for 5 years, great bike. great price for a 27.5

Halfords make some nice bikes, so I don't know why they insist on using the Sports Direct pricing model of blatant fake discounts from the alleged "RRP".

That said, I like Carreras. 24 speed is good (8 speed cassette) and 27.5" wheels is something new. Suntour XCT and mechanical disc brakes not so good. If you can get one of those 10% off followed by another 10% off deal then it's worth it. £250 is about the right price. Average deal.

Not a bad price, but if its the same model then it was cheaper 4 months ago....

Have one of these which is a 2011/12 model but mines the Ltd Edition with Hydrolic brakes. Best budget bikes on the market for the money!

That model has 26" wheels.

As above, seem an ok price for this bike, though probably not amazing.

I couldn't be bothered posting this or the other bike deals because of the (guaranteed) rubbish posted on here - see above.
If you do buy one from Amazon then get it on click and collect and read up how to easily get this price reduced by 10% then a further 10% off that.

don't see how this was ever £499? Kraken and Fury bikes maybe but they are solid bikes that hold there own in tests.

It's OK at that price but doesn't EVERYONE know about Halfords' dishonest pricing? They may comply (just) with the law but I for one don't appreciate being treated like a mug. Curry's and Argos are nearly as bad.

Lol. Bikes get updated on an annual basis kiddo...

I brought one of the old models last summer in the deal for 180. It had been a while since i had one so thought why not, has been a worthy investment so far. Its pretty well built for the money and i have got much healthier since buying it, you really can't beat the feeling from cycling once you get into it its fantastic! Endorphin overload lol even better in summer, I would say this is a great price for the new model

If someone looks at RRP on these they are nuts (_;) and if they slip on the wet pedals they have sore nuts. RRP on bikes are a joke I agree

Support worker, one of the tenants acquaintances.

The wife has a very similar model from a few years ago, amazing value for money

i've had my carrera fury MTB for 8 years now. use it daily as my station bike and yes I've had to change some components on it over the 8 years like anything mechanical things can and do go wrong. for an entry level MTB for work/leaving at the station etc its a steal for sub £250.00. yes the way halfords price their items is bad, but for the money is a good bike.

use my old one for going to and from work daily serviced it regularly only had to change perishable parts ( tyres pads inner tubes etc ) in 5 years mine is older and as ugly as hell so don't have to worry about it being knocked to much

I wouldn't want to take this anywhere near a mountain mind! Ok for around town, hopping down a few kerbs, nice ride through a meadow, but parts wouldn't stand up to a decent ride out.
