Extra Comfort
Customers told us that features such as saddle comfort were a crucial element of the overall package. Recognising this we’ve therefore equipped the Vengeance bikes with memory foam saddles helping you spend even more time comfortably on the roads and trails. Often overlooked (but nevertheless important as they are one of your contact points) we’ve developed new handlebar grips whose shape enables a steady hold with a knurled soft rubber surface for additional comfort.

Additional peace of mind (and grip!)
To give you even more riding time and not have you standing idle we’re also giving you additional peace of mind by fitting ‘Carrera Puncture Protection’ tyres as standard. They’ll still have a tread pattern designed to cope with bumps, obstacles and mud but the band of Kevlar protection running around the tyre will help reduce the incidence of punctures.

Lightweight responsive frame
We’ve overhauled and updated the tube profiles so that they are chunkier and more purposeful delivering a stiffer and more capable frame that still has low overall weight at approximately 14kg. Even better news is the improved geometry whereby we’ve tweaked the angles of the frame giving a longer wheel base which offers stability, coupled with shorter stems and wider handlebars which will give riders more control especially when cornering.

Efficient modern gears
To enhance the riding experience we have also upgraded the drive train on the new Vengeance, moving from a triple chainset to a 2x (2 by). One less cog at the front means less weight and less maintenance but also makes changing gears more intuitive as fewer choices help you get the one you want quicker… and don’t worry about the range of gears. The Vengeance now comes with a bigger cassette at the back wheel so you’ve still got those important choices at the top and bottom end of the range. Less sometimes definitely is more!

If it ain’t broke..
Stopping power is still provided by mechanical disc brakes, which provide consistent and controlled braking even on the toughest surfaces. To smooth out the inevitable bumps that come with trail riding, there’s high-end Suntour XCM front suspension, which gives 100mm of travel and can be adjusted depending on the type of ride or surface.

Looks the part
And looks might not be everything but if you’re spending your heard earned cash on a new bike then it had better look the part. We are happy to report that the Vengeance comes in two colour options for Men and two for Women. All are stunning so the hardest decision you’ll have to make is which colour suits you best.

Carrera Vengeance Accessories
Kit your Carrera Vengeance out for additional use. Prevent some of the mud and water from soaking you and your bike with a Halfords Mud Guard Set and stay safe and seen with a set of affordable lights. Always better to be safe than sorry as well so beef up your security with a dependable bike lock.

Carrera Mountain Bike Maintenance
Keeping your bike in peak condition is key if you plan on having it a long time, so let Halfords look after your Carrera Vengeance with CycleCare. With a huge range of services covering everything from your brake cables to the chainset, CycleCare is designed to ensure your bike stays in peak condition, even after plenty of miles. Remember that you always bring your Carrera Vengeance to your local Halfords store for unlimited free safety checks for as long as you have the bike.

Halfords Frame Guarantee
We take bike build quality seriously, which is why your new Carrera Vengeance comes with a lifetime frame guarantee. The Carrera Vengeance really is built to last.

Be funny in a few months time when we're all going back to normal and people are selling these for around 100
Isn't this just the standard price?
This bike is a downgrade on previous years models. I have the 2018 version and it has 24 speeds and better disc brakes. It only cost me £264 from Halfords and wasn't on offer either. I bought it on June 26th 2018 so right in the middle of summer almost yet it was still a good price.

This newer model is only 16 speed in comparison and going for significantly more money. Once this lockdown completely ends I can see it dropping to around £250 or thereabouts. Shops are clearly taking advantage of the higher demand by keeping prices high.
There are no bargains in budget bikes at the moment, but this is a decent budget bike at a sensible price. Get it bought and get cycling!

I've been holding out for the crossfire 2 hybrid bike but that (and every other bike) are out of stock. Very tempted to go for this while it's in

That is a good point. This bike used to be a regular on sites like Gumtree second hand - perhaps some should check out their local ads first just in case they can pick one of these up used.

Yes, it's the same price as normal. However, you'll struggle to get a bike for less than £500 right now as they're so in demand
Used are being sold on eBay between 250 to 300. Considering that its a good deal.

That is true . But go back to march on those listings and it's selling for less than £150 so might be worth waiting unless you need a bike now
Managed to get a Carrera Hellcat this morning for £350, price isn’t great but my current bike is on its last legs! I’m happy anyway
I’ve seen Boardman MHT 6.8 relatively well work selling for 500+ on eBay and they were only 650. Bike market has gone nuts

Been using my sons mountain bike which is a adult small for last few weeks cycling with other son. I am however 6ft 3 and need the XL. Anyone have any insider info when they might be in stock by chance?

Less gears isn’t necessarily a downgrade. Higher end bikes tend to run a single front ring and 10-11 on the back now.

Hydraulic discs brakes are obviously preferable but if you’re only commuting or doing family rides on the towpaths these will do the job and are easier to fix if something goes wrong.

Price is definitely due to demand, I’ve seen these as low as £220 when Halfords have offers on. Unless you desperately need a bike the Calibre Two cubed from Go Outdoors is a better buy but out of stock for now.
A reasonable bike. Good value for money I paid around 200 with codes. It gotta nicked in town after a month ffs.... Scroats

Do You mean an 8.6
I upgraded from this bike ( carrera ) to an 8.6 , the chain rubbing was insane , was told that's just how it is , and seemingly there's nothing can be done about it .

Believe me, I tried this, facebook, eBay, gumtree, etc, I could get a very similar spec bike for about £250. However that has no guarantees like this one from Halfords, .
Check of your employer is doing a ride to work scheme and ask why not under the current circumstances
Thanks. Finally managed to use my cycle 2 work voucher on this

I noticed 2nd hand bikes in good condition still hold value to a degree , u would pick one of these up in winter on facebook for less than 100 quid I bet

A decent bike and great price, but Decathlon are damn near impossible to get an order from at the moment. They only sell a limited number each day, and reset at 11pm, but at that time, the website struggles and then they reach their limit again

Yes the older model has wider gearing but the newer model is lighter with superior geometry, better contact points, more intuitive gearing and likely to ride better than the older model. Like the old model it only just scrapes in as a real mountain bike providing the bear minimum specification but I would say this is a worthy update. Like the old model it has combined brakes and shifters which you are forced to upgrade if you move to hydraulic disc brakes. Carrera bikes as great as they are in value terms have been a bit slow to update their geometry which I guess forced many to choose a Voodoo or Boardman model instead. At least now you can have better geometry on a lower price bike.

There may be other factors that prevent bikes going as cheap as they were. The current level of UK public debt has increased because of covid 19 so the £ may drop in value making imports more expensive. The government may increase VAT in order to bring more tax revenue in. People's living standards are likely to drop and wages reduce. We may see more tariffs on goods from the far east etc. The cost of transporting goods may significantly increase and the cost of production too. I don't think its safe to assume pricing will go back to where it was.

That's basic economics. There are plenty of people, myself included who want, not "need" a bike now. Of course its worth waiting if you don't "need" one now. I'm happy to take a hit to get hold of one.

Exactly, but I suppose you could also use the same logic for loo roll about 10 weeks ago. You ‘could’ get them easily and for cheap back in January, but if you wanted one 10 weeks ago, you would have to climb over several people and kick the old lady out of the way to get to the last pack in Aldi
I need some advice... I am thinking to buy a bike through the cycle to work scheme. Looking for hybrids as I don’t cycle a lot but when I do always stay on roads. I am open minded about price range (anything between £500- 2500 ) as long as it’s good value for money. Also considering an electric bike to help on the steep hills as there are a lot of those where I live.
I quite like this: Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 2020 Electric Hybrid Bike.
just wondering how safe this would be and would I have to be constantly worried someone will break into the garage to steal this? Or should I just go for a £500 bike instead?
I have never realised how hard it is to choose a bicycle ..

I would agree but we aren't talking last year or even 6 months ago . Prices shot up a couple of months ago due to lockdown and will crash a few months after lockdown .
I am not saying it's a bad deal ,its ok right now but it's only a decent price due to current world issues

If theft is likely in your area I would definitely factor that into your purchase. Maybe if you bought a folding bike you could store it in the house?
