I have this bike in Red and it is pretty good. I paid £320 in the sale so this is a hot hot price for a decent bike...

Was after a bike, i've reserved one thanks. Does anyone know if this is the best bike in the sale as there are a few different ones and don't really know a lot about them?

Reserved this yesterday for the other half. Going to be ready tomorrow, bargain now I know about the 10% voucher, cheers

Do you get Spock ears with it? oO

Carrera are an excellent brand for people on a budget. I still have my 2004 Carrera Fury, with a few upgrades, it's a great bike.

I have a vulcan and its poo, wouldn't recommend these at all

I think you made that comment up.

But just to humour you what sub £300 MTB would you recommend then?

Not the best bike in the world - however not bad for the money.

If people want some reassurance about the quality of this bike at this price point, then find a few threads or ask some questions on bikeradar

Halfords have put up the RRP of their bikes massivley in the past year or so, anyone know what the "normal" selling price for this bike is?

i had this bike, looks really good and nothing went wrong with it in the time i had it. great price i paid £260 when it was on offer awhile ago.

Normal price is about £299

Good price for the spec.

Can anyone comment on how the Carrera Vengeance compares at £274.99?

Vulcan or Vengeance?? Is the vengeance worth £50 more??

Vengeance has rock shox but no lockout apparnatly and the dart forks are not meant to be that good

sorry for the question but I am trying to start using bikes and i will need some help. I am about 5,5 tall so which size frame i should go for? i noticed this bike comes in 16, 20, 22 inch frames?

Sam you are probably 16". 20" would be too big. I use an 18" Fury and I'm 6'.

Carrera Vengeance Limited doesn't have lock out on the forks, which would be a deal breaker for me.

If you want to use this on the road, then lockouts would essential. In fact, if you wanted a bike just for trail and road use, the Subway (50% off as well) would be a better buy.

Do any of the 50% off bikes have lockouts (whatever that is)??

Banned

Lock out makes the forks go rigid....so more power is put down onto the road and not absorbed by the coil

The Subway has rigid forks. Unless you're doing serious off road stuff, you don't really need shocks. They add weight and mean for a bike of the same value less money going on other components.

Lock-outs stops the suspension which is useful if you're doing standard road riding. For commuting and road riding I'd avoid a bike with suspension. You can get the Carerra Subway with 50% off at the moment - no suspension (rigid forks).

The wife is looking for a MTB would the 16" version of the vulcan be any good as i notice the lady specific vulcan isn't reduced by much? whats the difference - assume just the angle of the top frame for mounting/dismount etc.

Any other good deals on ladies mtb if you don't recommend the 16" mens MTB for her?

Usually the only difference with ladies versions is that the seat is wider to accommodate the larger behind of the fairer sex.

iis that all? if so then i'll go for one.

thanks to OP heat added!

also notice that 3rd post states about signing up for news letter for 10% off - cant seem to find this page. And is that an additional 10% off the order on top of the reserve and collect voucher mentioned by the OP?
