Martin Scorsese's beautifully crafted Casino follows the career of Sam ‘Ace' Rothstein (Robert DeNiro) as he takes charge of a Vegas casino for the Italian mob.

His skill for managing the casino is compromised by marriage to the unstable Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone) and his friendship with the psychotic hoodlum Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci). As long as Ace makes the mob bosses money they're happy, but nothing can be allowed to jeopardise their Vegas money pot.

Love, greed and corruption are the themes of this visually stunning film from America's greatest living director.

One of the best films ever - fact (no, really, it is a fact)

It's supposed to be a poor transfer though. So what, as with most older films, is the point of having it on bluray? You may as well buy the cheaper dvd's and upscale.

Plenty of older films look great on Blu Ray if the transfer is done properly and with care. The age of the film is irrelevant.

If your after the DVD you can get 3 films Casino, Scarface and carlitos way at tesco for £3.97 (or £3.62 with quidco), just over a £1.20 per film.

Best price for bluray, heat added.
for info, Tesco entertainment have a DVD boxset at £3.97 (or £3.62 with quidco) for Casino/Scarface/Carlito's Way, about £1.20 per film.

So, so wrong! If film makers go back to the original film, you have potentially huge resolution available to you. I've seen some absolutely fantastic transfers of old movies from the 80's.. some great examples off the top of my head are The Lost Boys and Mad Max 2. Also watched the Exorcist on Blu Ray the other night and thought that was an impressive transfer.

If the film makers are lazy then yeah the transfer can be rubbish - but most are realising they can't get away with it now. People are too discerning!

Great film. Something to watch after Christmas dinner with the whole family.

Good price for a Classic Film. Ordered.

Prefer Goodfellas to this, personally.

Btw, does Blu Ray actually add anything to this film??

I agree, but as I said, this blu-ray is supposed to be a poor transfer and at the moment most blu-ray transfers are rushed jobs churned out to relieve you of your cash.

Depends on what kit the review is done on, but i'd heard the picture was excellent Hi-Def Digest and blu-ray.com both rated it very well: blu-ray.com/mov…88/
