Nice as a daily beater, slightly reminiscent of the "Casio Royale" AE1200 which is a bit more expensive (see Post #2). Here's opinions comparing the two: forums.watchuseek.com/f29…tml

If anyone's curious, here's the AE-1200 (different watch, this Deal is for the AE-1300) discussed (punnily known as the "Casio Royale" - as it's supposedly reminiscent of the Octopussy/Seiko G757 James Bond wore) http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/digital-appreciation-bond-casio-ae1200-aka-casio-royale-939510.html

Lots of chatter about modding both the 1200 and 1300 Casios on Watchuseek. This AE-1200 "Casio Royale" comes with a resin (cheapest option) or stainless steel strap and is £10+ more expensive.

A few Q&As from Amazon.comamazon.com/Cas…AFY

Question:
What do the three circles on the top measure?
Answer:
One is seconds, the next is tens of seconds, the last is tens of minutes (I believe, the last one may not be accurate)
By K Tell on July 12, 2016

Question:
Can you thread a nato strap through? looks a bit tight
Answer:
You can install a nato on it but you install it in a different way. First you take off the spring bars, next place strap thru the lugs and last install the spring bars on top of the strap. I did this with a 19mm gray strap.
By Julian on July 22, 2016

Question:
Can I replace the band? what size width strap should i use?
Answer:
Yes it is replaceable. 7/8" or 2 cm looks to be the size of the bar that goes through the band to watch connector. Remember it is a recessed trapezoid.
By K Tell on March 5, 2016

Question:
does it have a countdown timer?
Answer:
It has "preset timers", I want to be able to set the timer like when I cook, I use 2 to 3 minute when broiling steaks... They don't make my model I got about 20 years ago (1846) W-71. I ripped the band off again and this time it ripped the hole in the case. It's thin with a long battery life. They have some G-Shocks with countdown timers but they are so thick!

I love me a bit of Casio retro watch action!

I picked up the Casio Royale last March from Argos for £16.99.

Any ideas where to get the red bezel version of the AE-1300WH-8AV from?

Blame Amazon for that... I tend to copy/paste the Amazon listing name verbatim as it makes it easier to search for.

Edit: Actually, thinking about it, the "Analogue" part of Amazon.co.uk's description could refer to the three circular dials, mentioned in the Amazon.com Q&As in Post #1:

From reading around on watch forums, seems some G-Shocks have the "three circles" analogue design the AE-1300 has.

That one looks good. I appear to have started a little collection of these, methinks.
Have been looking non stop at Casio watches as my hubbys broke and it's a Casio illuminator personal trainer so been trying to replace the strap but there's a piece between metal back and your skin to protect it we cannot identify Anyone know what its called His was grey trying to add pic but cant
i recall back in the 80s the watches went into hyper styling: Colour LCD lines for each second, another colour for minutes etc... loved those watches and sooo creative! - one of my favourites was colour blocks, analogue with digital clocks - awesome! - any one seen anything like that?
Anyone know whether the illumination is full green screen, or the really bad orange light from a corner?

I was told about that last night (had no idea as I'm oblivious to most Bond movies)...wasn't there one scene where Sean Connery (?) used his watch to unzip a woman's dress?

Here's Watchuseek member Danbooru discussing the 1300/Nato Straps in more detail on the huge "Casio Royale" thread: forums.watchuseek.com/f71…tml

I have a 1300 which is somewhat similar, a little darker, roughly same … I have a 1300 which is somewhat similar, a little darker, roughly same functionality but in a different presentation. My recommendation to you guys considering a NATO is to buy it in 22mm (I used 22) or maybe even 24mm and notch the strap at the spring bars just enough to fit it on then heat seal the frays with a small flame and a steady hand. It won't be coming off the watch like a NATO would but it looks more correct in my opinion. It takes an 18mm strap normally which is very small indeed considering it's a 42mm across watch. I'm always on the hunt for a 1200 with SS strap cheap. I can bide my time until it appears on eBay or something.

If you really MUST have the AE-1200 Octopussy-sort-of watch, there's a Black Resin strap (£15.11) and Stainless (£20.39) on Amazon Warehouse at the moment amazon.co.uk/Cas…200

I've bought a few watches from Warehouse as gifts and they've been better than described. Only one has been a complete turkey - DOA (it only cost just over £1!).

Edit: This is probably the sexiest AE-1200 mod on the entire thread (kudos to theretroshave @ watchuseek) - of course you could do this to the AE-1300 as well, if you're feeling adventurous forums.watchuseek.com/f71…tml
