Probably overkill for GCSE and for A level the CG 50 is worth the investment. Good price though for anyone wanting a capable calculator

For those pupils aiming for grade 7 or above this is a great calculator. Can solve simultaneous equations and quadratic and that's only the beginning

Don't be cheap. The normal "upgraded Casio" is like £10-15.

This is the best calculator, anything else and you are at a disadvantage. The private school kids will all have this, not a Wilko one

No, the cheaper calculators don't have the stats functions required for A-level, plus you'd be at a huge disadvantage without the integration and simultaneous equation functions (amongst others).
Jamie McGee is dead right. This calculator is too much for GCSE, it's too complicated for most kids to use it effectively. Even if they cost the same I'd still advise go for an FX83/85. And the advantages of having a graphical calculator like the CG50 for A Level are tremendous, well worth the expense.
In fact half a dozen listings beneath this is the new FX 85 for 11 quid, if all you're going to do is GCSE then get that.
