Thanks for posting, price and retailer added

I actually like this tipple. Thx

This is a lovely Rioja, highly recommend

Great deal, got it last time it was offered and here we are again

noticed this is the 2009 vintage if online at tesco groceries - any views on this as previous vintages have been alright but know the later ones are a bit hit miss?

Only the 2009 in my local store. Took a punt though and bought 6 at £4.87 (after the 25% discount). Figured it doesn't have to be brilliant at that price, and, as a Reserva, I'm hoping it will be better than most of the basic "Tempranillos" which are being passed off as Rioja these days at £5+. Will let you know.

Thx OP, this deserves to be a lot hotter!

No idea about the 2009 vintage but my local Tesco has the 2008 vintage, which is excellent, bought 6 earlier for under £30 with the 25% off for getting 6

I opened a bottle of the 2009 last night and first impressions were VERY disappointing. Asked a friend who is a big Rioja fan to try it too and she agreed that the taste is very dilute (like it has been mixed with water) and somewhat sour. I decided that the sourness may be fresh oak from the barrels it has been aged in and it did seem to ease somewhat after it had breathed for an hour. Drank half a bottle last night and I didn't feel as negative about the last glass as the first(!) but I'll be interested tonight to see how the other half goes. The other observation is that the cork was really poor quality and very dry but I don't believe the wine was actually corked. How it seems to me actually tallies with some of the negative comments I've read about the 2009 vintage so I'm actually thinking about returning the other 5 bottles - I can buy much better discount wine for £5. Note that I have no opinion on the 2008 and hope that's better!

Just one opinion.
