As above, and as recommended by VW, Audi etc.
There are other oils on the site too, have a look. This is the cheapest 1 litre I have ever seen, well worth getting to have in the boot.

That price hurts when national tyres will do an oil and filter change. With this oil up to 6 litres for£35.00 ish if booked online.
Wont vote hot or cold cos could be a good price.

Answer is here.

Over-priced in the first place, we charge only £9.98 per litre, where, I work.

so is this available in all homebase's or not?

you have to look online at store finder thing, there was lots where i live (north east), and its cheapest i've found the 1 litre, anywhere. so for me, a bargain

bargain from me... voted hot (if you can find it...)

Well it is good for its price, but i would suggest to check on ebay too. theres always plenty of bargains there, several people buy in bulk and not use enough of have spare bottle. I often buy Mobile 1 0-40w from there and that too at 1/3 price that merc stealers charge or 2/3 of halfords and other parts shops.

This oil must be pretty good as my missus VW uses it on the 2 year long life service plan. Can't believe you can use the same oil for 2 years as on my Renault it's every 6k miles and I would prefer replacement sooner than 2 years personally.

Have some spare bottles after getting rid of the Polo if anyone needs any and can't find in their local homebase.

And just checked the Nationwide Tyres website. Bargain if you can get them to fit this oil for £34 up to 7 litres worth as that should include a new filter and you can't do yourself for that price.

I always do my own oil changes but it is messy and on a 2 litre clio there is very little room. As long as you definately get the correct oil I would recommend National Tyres for your oil change and a 1 litre bottle for topping up.

I supply my own oil to the service center, either vw or independent vw specialist.
They also charge you for 5 litres, and as most cars use 4.2 OR 4.4 Litres on the oil change, you are entitled to the remaining oil you have paid for. (always useful for topping up)
Their oil is about £45 per change for a PD Diesel.
I buy Miller Oils own brand that meets the VW Specs, i know Carlube also do one, but that is a little more expensive (£32 for 5 litres)
Miller oils PD oil is £26 for 5 Litres, just have to find a local stockist where you are.
Carlube stuff is available in most A1 Motor Stores

i think this is the stuff they have for £4 in asda

about National Tyres

Do they put a stamp in the service book when you get your oil and filter changed?

sorry for going a bit off topic

Seems doubtful. Asda dont stock Edge.

This is a good price for 1L. Its unfair for those above comparing this per litre price to the 4L cans - note that's 4L (around £40 in Halfords), as I dont believe you can get a 5L.

This oil is a rip off, but this is the best price I have seen for 1lt, voted hot.

Absolute rip off. Buy your oil from your local motor factors look in the yellow pages for them (and I don't mean Halfords, Motor World, Checkpoint or any of the other rip off chainstores), it's much cheaper. My local one sells 5l of Valvoline 5W30 synthetic blend for £15 and the one litre bottles are £3.50.

And do these oils meet the specification for Audi/VW (variable) servicing? Buying an oil of the same grade, e.g. 5W30 is not the same as buying the correct spec. of oil for AVS.

this is the only oil that VW recommends you use, great price, its more expensive at motor factors and other paid the full price at halfords just afew weeks ago.

It's not so much the oil that VW reccomend, it's what's been tested to meet the VW 507.00 standard which is used for their variable servicing. However it's also backwards compatible with VW 506.01, 505.01, etc, etc so it's worth getting if your car needs it.

It's not as cheap as the three pack I got from Costco a while back for £12+vat though.

Might be useful if you could enlighten us as to where that might be!

Which Halfords do you get it at for £26? Website is showing £48 !!
I was going to suggest Costco for Mobil 1 at about £24 but at £26 it would cost me more in petrol to go to Costco than I'd save.

any in leeds for my mazda rx-8?

the stuff advertised in this deal? i'm not sure, check out the website

BTW - Those that subscribe to FHM (lots here do because of the 12 quid deal or the game deal) - your new issue will arrive soon with a 15% off Homebase voucher...

0W-30 only £4.98 - just picked up 4 from New Southgate. They still have a few left but no 5W-30

If you normally use 5W-30, 0W-30 should be ok, it just last a little less longer (from what I gather on the net) but you can't complain at this price.
