Why is it A3 then? Flushing oil?

API CF may be an obsolete classification but you still needed a decent oil to pass the Cat 1MPC diesel test; especially as a 10W40. CH-4 is fine if you drive a 10 litre Freightliner truck but for your bog standard diesel passenger car, CF + B3 is more than adequate.

I wasnt criticising the classification, there is nothing wrong with it - I was trying to highlight that it may not be the best choice for those of us with petrol engines of any value !

now now ladies, dont fight. oil is oil - either it be cooking oil cheer up

I only asked as I thought you may know, your user name and all that lol.

This GTX is the 'old' GTX first introduced in 2004. It works just fine and dandy in all petrol engines; even ones of value (whatever than means). On all the field trial data I ever saw, this version of GTX was in many respects superior to many of the full synthetics that are out there.

'Intelligent Molecules that know where to go.' Are we allowed to write "What utter w*ank" on this site?

Didn't you know, Magnatec oil is 'magnetic', that's what makes it stick to the engine pmsl.

For my sins I designed this stuff and all I can say is that 'utter w*ank' is an appropriate technical term...

Anybody that actually DID design this stuff would of said "For my sins, I was part of the team that designed this stuff".

That fact that you prbably lied, just to give more weight to your critisism makes you seem a bit desperate, and weird.

Sorry to disappoint but I did actually design this oil. It took about a year of hard slog and it wasn't much of a team effort as I recall. FYI I also designed Shell Helix Plus, Total Activa, Opel's old 0W30 Factory Fill engine oil and a lot of oils for foreign companies you probably have never heard of.

The comment about "Intelligent molecules" is something dreamt up by Castrol's marketing department. As a marketing message it serves a purpose but from a technical perspective it's all a bit silly really.

Happy now?
