Can't see this being on the shelf for too long!
Ah stop/start - now there's a technology that's guaranteed to destroy engines quicker and create more pollution and make more money for garages

I agree, I can turn mine off with a button by the gear lever on the new Focus but annoyingly it re activates the next time I use the car.
It's a bloody stupid annoying system that will eventually kill the engine and battery.
I turn mine off when i've got to my destination. Stop-start, sounds like a geriatric love-making guide.

The 90p one is a C3 classification the ones I posted are A5. It's a pitty the ones in Milford Haven aren't C3 as I now have found out that the A5 are not suitable for my VW Golf (I'm glad I resisted the urge to bulk buy and only bought 1 🚗). Where was your store?
Is stop start really that bad?

Stop start prevents pollution, saves your car idling at traffic lights …Stop start prevents pollution, saves your car idling at traffic lights etc... there is zero evidence to show it has an effect on the general wear and tear of engines, in fact I would expect it reduces wear as the engine is completely still while idling.. also cars with stop start have a specialist battery so not going to damage that either.

You clearly know nothing about cars. You sound like you work for a public organisation like the highways agency.

Stop start is the worst invention ever. Once it nearly killed when the moronic invention decided to kick in as I wanted to floor it out of a junction. You cause alot of wear and engine damage when starting a car, continually stopping and starting reduces the lifespan of the electrical system starter motor., battery, etc. Batteries cost 3 times as much and last third of the time. Battery in my 15 year old peugeot 307 lasted 10 years. Battery in my audi s3 lasted 3 years. I also did 10 times as many miles in the peugeot

Stop start is a nightmare it even requires a special car battery - stupid invention that hardly saves anything at all!

I am an electronics engineer and what royals says about the electrics is very true - seen loads of dead diode packs in Stop start Ford motors!

Go to any motoring forum and ask!
Yes its another gimmick to make motorists feel better but in reality its a nightmare for engines and car electrics!
Crazy
Hubby got this a few days ago at Bridgend for 2.50

Best oil for an audi a3 1.9 diesel engine 2008? Please. Thank you

Quantum platinum or quantum longlife 3, depending on how often you change oil.
in my Audi i use the longlife 3 and service it at 12 months/6000 miles.
some Audi garages now use Castrol edge, but if you ask me i prefer the quantum.
it makes the engine noticeably quieter, especially on older card.
Stop start can be useful in certain situations such as being in a traffic jam on a motorway. However if you do alot of local driving I'd suggest to switch it off as it can cause premature wear to engine. I only use it when oil temperature has reached optimum and if I'm going to be stationary for more than 40 seconds. That's very rarely!
Is it okay to put engine oil that's gone past its best before into your engine?
Stop start can be switched off easily when not required.

Don't see the reason for complaint.
Not national, all varieties A5, C2 and C3 scanned at £18 in my local Tesco ( Ashford Middx).

5W-30. Thank you for your reply. Do you have 1.9 diesel too? Is 5W-30 semi or synthetic the best model to use for my audi ? I always had a petrol car... So I don't know what is best... Thank you

Agree! When I feel that I need to quick time my entry to a junction or roundabout I just press a button and its off! Easier than changing the radio station.

That Audi driver probably does not know how the indicators work either.

Fully synthetic is best oil for your car.
quantum platinum for very frequent oil change, i use it in my vw 2.0T petrol and change oil every 6 months.
i use the longlife 3 in the Audi 3.0tdi and change every 12 months (roughly 6000 miles)
Stop - Start is great until your starter motor fails at a busy junction and you hold up the traffic until you get recovered. I now would not trust it and normally turn it off.
Stop - Start ?
Little info here .................

Hi

It only comes on when there is enough charge in battery. So if you have just started the car in winter then it will take longer to work. However as weather becomes warmer it can come on within few minutes of driving even when engine cold.

I think it all really depends on your driving. If I use it at all traffic lights even if they turn after 10 secs then it can potentially increase wear.

If I use it occasionally, after oil temp has reached optimum (about 10mins after water temp reached 90 degrees), like when I know the lights take about a minute or so to change then I think it's ok.

I like the technology but you have to be selective to get the best out of it whilst causing minimal wear to engine.

Have a great day.

Well you do know that if you do more miles it's actually better for the battery right? If I occasionally drive my car the battery would drain alot quicker because its not going to get a full charge. That may explain why your battery later agreed in the 307.

On another note i advise you be sensible on the roads. Peoples lives are at risk and your 2 minute joy ride can end someone's life. If you like to "floor it" I suggest you go on a track day.
