Set in the closing months of World War II in an American bomber squadron off the coast of Italy, Catch-22 is the story of a bombardier named Yossarian who is frantic and furious because thousands of people he has never even met keep trying to kill him.

Joseph Heller’s hilarious and tragic satire on military madness was adapted into a film in 1970. Directed by Mike Nichols, the film starred Alan Arkin as Yossarian and featured Art Garfunkel, Jon Voight, Martin Sheen and Orson Welles.

Marmite book, some l
people can't get into it. Me? I loved it, and thank Heller for the 30 year long and strong love affair with reading that this book gave me. Was only thinking of poor Nately yesterday.

Voted hot.
I love this book, onto my second paperback copy as I wore out the first, worth grabbing a digital backup at this price!

Classic book - but definitely not for everyone. Worth 99p though!
A brilliant read.
Amazon are really going in hard with the promotion of top-notch Kindle books at the moment. Kicking myself for forgetting to buy Brave New World.

And classic great novels, you can't swing a cat without hitting one for 99p or less.

Catch-22 is a really weird book and extremely unlikeable in many ways. But it's a landmark of dark comedy and very ahead of it's time, if that interests you then try it. I'm not sure I'd want to read it again but I'm glad I did at least once.
Simply superb and my most read book by a country mile.
