I wouldn't spend too much on these flashing dazzlers the police are starting to enforce the regulations

I agree, but I don't think this counts as one of those. While any light if pointed inappropriately can dazzle this is only 100 Lumens and will have a solid beam setting. I wouldn't want it for flying through the woods at night but but as a commuter/back lanes light it'll be fine.

You can get brighter for less money but probably not as well made or reliable.

Also, Cateye can be trusted to give you an honest lumens value unlike the many ebay specials with wildly optimistic ratings.
As others have said, this is a good light for commuters to be seen on lit roads.
Cateye lights are well made and reliable. This one is bright enough to get you seen but not to blind other road users or light up the road in front of you.

On unlit roads and cycleways you'll need something brighter. I use a Volt 400 which, as the name suggests is 400 lumens rather than the 100 this one gives out. Off-roaders would need even more.

For £12 it's a great buy.
Looks like a CCTV camera
I have one of these lights and they give off a good bright light. The only issue I have is that the battery charge does not last very long possibly an hour or so on full charge.
When it is running low, a red light will appear and you have roughly 15 minutes before it turns off.
