Oh dear! Not a bad price for a best selling cheese, sub £5 cheese - does it pass the taste test or is it preferable due to price . . . .

Some of us judge food on it's quality as well as it's price...

As to having some bizarre Tesco vendetta - grow up.

Not interested in where it's from, but I agree about the pricing. There's always one mature cheddar available for this price point, often including these brands.

You're lucky to get any decent brand now for under £2 per 350g... Great deal.

good price for a very nice cheese heat.

Heat from me, I posted a Cathedral city cheese deal recently and expect the following comments:

- Not £5 per kilo (as per above). Response: 'You wont get Cathedral city sub £5',
- This is always on offer, RRP is a rip off. Response: 'Who would buy at RRP? Yes there is usually an offer but is still a deal'
- I cant believe people believe Cathedral City passes as a quality cheese. Response: A lot of people like this cheese, but if you prefer other cheeses then that's your choice

This just proves that if you pile the shelves high enough and pretend to discount it at every opportunity, that people will really believe that this is anything other than crappy plastic cheese.

Chanchi you are wrong. You can regularly get this cheese for under £5 a kilo.

I know this, because this is what I do.

there are good value packs of a very nice cheese in costco for less than a fiver a pack for a kilo, baden i think is the brand, and already sliced. I buy this quite a lot and still think this tesco offer is a very good deal, heat added op, and i will probably buy some myself, not often i get to costco as often the price of getting there outweigh the savings..

Agreed. The other brands too, usually Pilgrim's Choice or McLelland.

Its the cheapest brand cheddar available right now. For that i give you some heat. Doesn't matter if it is often cheaper, right now this is a deal.

Good offer.

good offer, for an average cheese!!

Aka 'cheese laminate' in our house. Not much good for grating, etc.......

You do cheese? oO

Cathedral City's too mellow for me - goes sweaty after while.

Plus £5 per KG of mature cheddar cheese is rarer but still happens infrequently.

Oh dear, I've just been stocking up to make the most of the 550g for £3 and now you find this which at £5.34 per kg against £5.45 per kg is even better!
Heat added, as far as I'm concerned this is a great price if you use this cheese.
