Was looking at the offers when I noticed the cheese on a half price offer. It's also on offer in the per packaged packs. This is the best deal around.

I did having spotted the pilgrims cheddar was all priced up wrong a few weeks ago
i am guessing you could not claim double difference on this

Waitrose- full of daft folk who will only pay for something if its expensive because they think if its expensive it must be good.Tried it myself and the store is dull expensive and the products are not much better than other chains mass produced food.Dont do ready meals myself so cant comment on these.
Same with M&S food.Expensive and the quality is no where what it was like 10-15 years ago.

I couldn't agree more after trying the products myself! I actually really like Cathedral City cheese, and I've not come across many people who don't!

Also, I notice OP mentions pre packaged packs are half price, just in case any is wondering, this is for the store-cut pre packaged packs, and not the ones in the main red packaging. These are not half price APART from the extra mature variety for some reason.

Yes, got a couple blocks of this when I was in Tesco on Thursday

My kids love Cathedral City mature cheddar - it's the only cheese my 5 year old will eat. Thanks you've saved me a few quid this week.

Tesco usually do their own brand extra mature white cheddar 350 gram packs 2 for a Fiver

I have traveled the length and breadth of the country and have tasted more cheese, pies, pasty's than some professional tasters, and can honestly say this is one of the nicest cheeses I have ever had its a bit similar to a Canadian extra mature, so if you like a cheese that bites back give it a g. And before anyone comments, No I do not work for Tesco but i do like to steer people to something that I know is good.

An ok cheese at an ok price.

Good price point for a good cheese

You have to find the right types of product.

Their sandwiches are fantastic.

Fruit and Veg lines have really great quality.

Their cakes and dougnuts are so much better than other places, the jam is actually really thick and tasty.

Their fruit squash is my favorite, more so than brand makes.

Their tomatoe puree is the best out of the supermarkets, it was also the cheapest until the other week when they upped the price by 10p.

Never touch the ready meals though and once picked up a bag of frozen roast potatoes which was not a patch on Iceland's.

Waitrose is definitely my favorite supermarket to go hunting for reduced items, I leave sometimes with a full basket coming to around £3 total purely because hardly anyone else touches it.

Just in time, just ran out of the last of the £4.50/kg counter Pilgrim's Choice.

Lol. It is better! Though there's no waitrose near me so I buy waitrose own brand stuff on ocado for the same price as tesco etc. Win!

I think the reason I'd rather go to waitrose is the selection rather than to buy better versions of what you get in other supermarkets (though they generally do do better versions), and their deli counter is stuffed with the tastiest morsels of any supermarket! Oh and bread products, WAY better than tesco instore (though morrisons often runs them close imo).

Only the very largest of tesco's or asda's tend to match their selection, most smaller stores seem to stock a whole load more "branded" products instead (e.g. a zillion different styles of packs of heinz beans, duplicated ranges of soups from heinz/hp/etc) and less choice of actually different own brand stuff.

Also, waitroses value range (essentials they call it) is more like the mid to premium range from other places, and usually comes up cheaper (especially on ocado), so you can actually save money with em

Maybe i should give them another go then

I'm a real cheese lover, and I just love Cathedral City. I rarely buy anything else these days and this is a great price for it.

Got this the last time it was on offer but found it was much crumblier than the pre-packed stuff. Anyone else think this or did I just get a crumbly block!

Just got a chunk of this myself. I also noticed how few people actually bother to look. They had the same cheese in packs on the shelf for £6.28 a kilo, and the shelf was empty, yet walk five paces along the aisle to the deli counter, it's £5 a kilo, and there's a tonne of it left. People, eh?;)

Absolutely spot on,they have the same products at more than twice the price you can get it sometimes,Poor excuse of a supermarket.

Why be derogatory about waitrose? As cost is not always an issue or food quality to some people, I use both Tesco is cheap, staff are awfull (mostly), food crap. Waitrose not cheap staff slow (mostly), food ok. Best of all Sainsburys even though till staff twitter/blabber on about a load of twaddle.

Nice cheese though.

Do waitrose have till hags like Tesco ? I don't shop in either as use Lidl, just wondering..oO

Nope, at least not in my local. It seems like a prerequisite for employment is to be female, young, and attractive. I shop their regularly, to ensure that standards are kept up.

Does this come with a giant oversized packet to make it look bigger too?!?! :P
