I have recently visited their website (www.diy.com) & they have a offer in conjunction with British Gas, where they will fill your cavity walls for only £198. I 'm unable to get it free as not on benefits & this therefore seemed a really good deal. I have been told approx 6 weeks from order to fit. Also INSTORE so I believe that you can get Diamond discount on it as well (minus 10%)

Also quidco if ordered online.

It may well be, but I can't find it for less in Barnstaple, Devon.

I thought that a insulation thread would be warm/hot not cold.

Why the cold votes?

"I 'm unable to get it free as not on benfits & this seemed a really good deal."

Gosh...are there others out there? :whistling:

Wished I was unemployed or had qualifications in claiming benefits because everyone I know has far higher standard of living and warmer house than I do :x

given nine heat but still cold

great spot, cheers

think it was posted not so long ago but not sure if it's cheaper now, that's maybe why the cold votes otherwise it might be everyone on the forum is on benefits

apparently 6 weeks from order to fit is very optimistic, have heard it is more like 4 months.

Just in time to stop the lovely sunshine from warming the house

They are doing the deal on loft insulation too, about 6 weeks from order to install on mine. ]Here

I had a quote from a company a couple of weeks before I ordered from B&Q, the quote was over £100 more than I paid at B&Q. Then B&Q contracted that very same company to do the work anyway! Great saving for me!

Well they have to have something to do all day and plonk all 7 kids in front of.

Used this service, ordered 21 Oct, work done 16 Dec. Go through quidco for cash back, mine has tracked but not paid yet.
Workmanship seems ok.
Be careful if big house, despite B & Q web saying up to 5 beds, company argued about cost of my 3 bed house (normal Barratt size), saying wall area exceeded offer price and wanted extra money !!
Argue and kick up a fuss to B & Q, British Gas etc, and complain to local trading standards if this happens to you. B & Q web order clearly says "up to 5 bed house".

Bought this instore on the 29th November using the 15% off voucher in the paper. (reducing the price to £168) Survey done and installation is 13 Jan!

think tesco do it for this price, so you get your club card points.

this thread is 3 months old

I waited 3 months for the call back - then waited another 4 months for the site survey - only to be told that my house was too old.....

this is really good. We were quoted nearly £800 to have our 4 bed house done and then used the B&Q site and ended up paying another £100 which was just under £300 in total which is brilliant and our house is now lovely and warm....

Make sure you check with your local council for a grant, we got our loft and cavity wall insulation done for £99 each.

Don't pay for this if you live in Kirklees as the council are doing loft and cavity wall insulation free for everyone (using the money they got from the sale of Leeds/Bradford airport I think).

Not very useful information for 99.9% of people I know!

Same in Knowsley. Free loft and cavity wall insulation to all residents..

Bah, unfortunately mainland Britain only, not for Northern Ireland. Voted Hot anyway.

I tried to get this done but my house is under 10 years old, so they would not touch it. Apparently it invalidates the NHBC warranty if they drill the holes to pump in the insulation. It has cavity walls but uses the thermolite blocks to provide the insulation. Wanted to top it up with CWI, but will have to wait another 2 years yet.

As previously said, go via quidco and get 6% cashback (I think).

Looks good to me, thanks!

Has this been posted by a cavity wall installer? its three months old!!

Voted hot! At this price you could get your money back in 2 years through the reduction in your heating bills.

]energyassessor.org

just had ours done in Birmingham for £99....

i would be interested in getting this done on a house we are moving into shortly, it mentions 140sgm . Its 5 bed house, anyone know if its more than 140sgm then b&q will refund you if it trns out to be more money.

They to start with refused to go in my loft at either end as it was not 5' roof space ! I said do it all or nothing and get your boss on the phone ! They did it all but the guy who did it got the right hump he had to 3 ' into a 4 ' high pitch ! Also they try and talk you into all sorts of other 'energy saving ' deals !

If you own/mortgage your home, have a kid, and earn less than £15,250 a year... then ring Warmfront on '0800 316 2808'. You can get Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation for FREE, or repair/replacement central heating.

You can also apply if you privately rent but you must have an ongoing 7 year tenancy agreement that states you, the tenant, are responsible for the heating.

There are a lot of places you can get cavity wall insulation from, concidering the Government fund all of them anyway via a grant scheme, and you do not need to be on benefits to get the grant.

I am contemplating getting this done. Are there any drawbacks to CWI?

Any scare stories? Rising damp, Condensation etc?

Thanks in advance.

just type in the search area on the B&Q page "British Gas" it comes up with all the options

Hi all.
Was looking at the B&Q wall insulation then found a company called the Mark Group with a price of £150 for most properties.
I ordered it and they sent a surveyor round to check cavity wall (gap has to be greater than 50mm) and just received a install date of 30th April so that would make whole process about 10 weeks.
Googled them and and found a forum saying they subcontracted for B&Q?
they have a freephone number 0800 616 302

hope this helps someone
