So I have been reading about the free 2 months trial available during lockdown.

Also on mobile devices you can download and watch shows offline.

CODES

Use one of these Codes to use for 1st month or use the Google Play workaround (possibly an Apple TV workaround):
ALL
GIFT

To get the 2nd month use code:
ENJOY

I started the trial more than a week ago, and it requires a good VPN to work. I could not get it to work with Surfshark. Surfshark is good enough to register, but not for playing the videos.

I was able to watch Star Trek Discovery on Hola using Chrome for about 4 or so days, however after that it's not working properly. Also could never get it to work with Hola on Amazon Firestick. I tried workplace GlobalProtect Cloud VPN to test so it does work with good VPN clients.

Normally the trial is 7 days.

TRIAL REGISTRATION instructions
To register for the free trial, you will either require a credit/debit card that will work in the USA, an american paypal account OR this workaround:

The workaround is to subscribe on Google Play. Also, I know you can get it on Apple TV or the app, however I am sure you require an american Apple account for that so haven't been able to test this

The Google Play app already comes with 1 month free trial at the moment, so no need to enter the code for the first month

For the 2nd month you then need to use the code after registering, which will work normally if you registered using credit card or Paypal.. Please if someone can try this as I haven't unsubscribed my Google Play subscription to be able to test this.

Yep, you would have thought the writers could at least have watched TNG before writing this. I can only assume that someone described TNG down at the pub and that is was the basis of their script.

I was not a fan - without Starfleet it was a bit dry for me, possibly after bouncing off Discovery my expectations for lots of action might have been off.

Still, it’s always nice to see the Borg
I enjoyed Picard tbh. Found it entertaining and a good return for some old characters.
Haven't watched Picard yet, gave up on Discovery after like 5 episodes, did they actually ever watch any Star Trek?! and this is coming from someone who liked Enterprise. Oh well, someday someone will get Trek right again!
People talking bout discovery whilst I'm eyeing the JAG collection
If anyone is tempted to get this for the new twighlight zone series, don't. It's crap.
What good vpn would you recommend?

You could try NordVPN.
ExpressVpn seems to be the best but it costs more, which is not useful for me because then I can just watch content in the UK for the same price.
I think PureVPN works as well, although that one has some privacy issues I heard. Still if you're only using it for watching TV then it might not be an issue.

There's also SmartDNS, I tried the SurfShark SmartDNS but that didn't work for CBS. SmartDNS is good if you don't need the privacy that comes with VPN, and it's faster than VPN.

I like Picard for being different do standard Star Trek shows.

It was season 1 to setup future seasons with a "team"

Great show on its day. Enjoyed the cameos on NCIS LA lately.
I lapped up every second of Picard. Love the man.

Me too, I don't know what they're talking about - I really liked it, Stewart said he didn't want it to be Next Gen part 2, it was meant to be it's own thing but it had enough call backs for older fans too. I'm looking forward to the second season.

Were we watching the same show? I thought Picard was the best Trek since TNG.

I think that's the problem most real Star Trek fans have with this show along with Discovery. I liked Discovery because I thought it still espoused the core Trek values. But Picard was way too woke and completely anti-Star Trek even for a normie like me. This isn't the Federation. They've literally gone back in time to 21st century attitudes. F-bombs to be edgy, abuse of Picard and the (now standard) belittling of any previous generation male hero. Also according to proper Trek fans, a rewriting of Trek lore.

Star Trek/Wars? Same difference.
