CCL should know it needs 3200 to get the best out of the processor. Easily upgradable I suppose but should be standard for these processors. Still a fab price for the machine

Your talking a few fps anyone buying this isn't going to be concerned with that, anyone who is would be spending far more than 600, I'd say CCL are saving money where it needs too. Also here is a pic of the Ryzen 3600, 2060rtx CCL machines cable management from the other day anyone concerned with CCLs build quality.

I wouldn't class 8GB as 'massive' memory. I think 8 gigs is about the minimum these days. 16 is what I'd go for with 32GB being 'massive'...
Eight gb ram ????? EIGHT ?
Thats like expecting a steam train to be powered not by coal but matchsticks

What matters more is that the memory is dual channel to get the most out of Ryzen processors. This is a single stick of 8GB which isn't ideal.

Your analogy is a bit over-the-top, in my opinion.

You're talking a few fps difference - it's not like the machine is going to slow to a crawl.

Looking at tests and benchmarks online the most modern games use at present is 12GB.

the memory available to the GPU is far more important.

This PC would never run anything that would require more than 8 GIG, Because memory is cheaper at the moment we seem to think we need 16 GIG, I doubt there are any games that use 16 Gig or anything close to it 8 Gig is more than enough.

Ouch, that is a problem! Sticks should always be added in pairs!

Better cpu, can upgrade ram. Total cost £642.
IS this not a better all round machine for about £50 more...?

You sound as if you're making excuses for 8gb rather than explaining why it isn't needed
Lets just say I don't agree

Because it's not needed.

The same Canadian feller still puts up to 64gb in his own set ups, I recall seeing.
(His shows on YouTube are great by the way, I agree with you there) so...........Mmmmm. No.

Not sure the name of it got it from eBay last week with the 10% deal the spec is

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2GHz turbo CPU
  • Massive 16GB Memory
  • Enormous 1TB Hard Disk
  • Super Fast 512GB Solid State
  • Dedicated 6GB GeForce RTX 2060 Graphics
  • 300Mbps Wi-Fi
  • USB 3.0 Ports
  • Gigabyte B450M DS3H
  • 3 Year Collect & Return Warranty

(CCL annoys me with the 'Massive' 'Enormous')

I cant really give you a breakdown on how it performs as my son bought it him self as an upgrade from a i5 7400 and 1060 3Gb, but the little time I've seen it was very quite and it was perfroming very nicely.

It's not a question of should you put more than 8gb in a PC, It's more a question of do you need to, In the case of this PC, Absolutely not, You can google it, You can YouTube it, But there are graphs and comparison videos all over the interweb showing that 8gb is really all you need outside of heavy video and photo editing.
If you can afford the extra 8, Then so be it, It won't hurt, But I would go a step up on the GPU or CPU before the extra 8gb.

Hes exagerating big time but there are a few games out there that play better with more than 8gb. Escape from tarkov for example will stutter quite alot on just 8gb of ram but with 12gb or 16gb it runs quite well.

8gb is fine for most gaming but we have reached the point where 16gb of ram should be standard with any new PC build.

Lets agree to disagree.
But ask yourself this - if you had such a powerful set up why limit yourself to the MINIMUM of Ram ?
