Wow, people could at least look at the previous threads about something specialised like this before posting. It would be a bad deal even at half the price.
Tha powerseeker line is complete rubbish, reputable astro-gear retailers don't carry it at all. This is a cheap bird-jones design scope, on a flimsy mount with useless eyepieces. Get it only if you are looking for a way to waste your money.

is the meade polaris 130md any good?
im actually after a Sky-Watcher Heritage 130P but all on ebay are collection. nobody wants an extra 20£ to ship. (edited)

Avoid this. The "good for beginners" talk isn't helpful.

Use Google to find your local astronomy club, most will do an open evening, go and look at their hobbyist scopes to get an idea of what you are reasonably going to be able to observe, then decide if you really want a scope and I'm 100% sure the members of the club will advise you on the best bang for your buck.

Has anyone here bought and used one of these?

I've had a similar Celestron Newtonian telescope l, great as an introduction but the optics suffer given it's a reflector; you can get DSLR mounts but if you want to do serious astrophotography you'll need a tracker. Essentially, a great starter but there is a learning curve to getting setup with the equatorial mount.

If you are looking for this specific scope then it seems like a good price. However facebook marketplace is strewn with Celestron 114, 127 or 130 models that have been 'hardly used'. I have bought and sold a few of these along the way and you usually find they have been bought for beginners and then they have quickly moved on to better scopes. Get a second hand one if you really want one and save yourself some money.

No, it is not a "good price", nobody should be looking at this specific scope. It's not comparable to other Celestron lines, as it's a bad optical design (a short tube spherical mirror with a low quality integrated barlow that tries to fix the distortion - bird-jones). And I won't even touch the eyepieces worth maybe £2.
I'll throw in a car analogy: it's a bit like saying an Austin Metro for £1000 is a good price because everybody else is trying to sell it for £2000 (hey, it's a "classic").
The second hand suggestion is good, but beginners should stay away from the "PowerSeeker" line. Almost anything else from Celestron should be fine...

if you just want to be able to see planets , maybe moons and rings etc what would be a good basic telescope or would binoculaurs be any good

This telescope would be brilliant to look at the moon. You would be able to see the rings of Saturn and the great red spot of Jupiter, but nowhere near like in the Hubble pictures. The moons of Jupiter and Saturn would look like dots, without any detail.
Also, the manual controls might be a bit frustrating, as you'd have to constantly readjust if using high magnification.
If you are not sure, get this telescope and then you'll know if you enjoy astronomy, and then you can get a computerised telescope with autotracking, etc.

I bought the AstroMaster 114EQ for £114, a lot of people had bad things to say about it, but for what I wanted it does the trick.
I still don’t have the hang of the EQ mount, but was told it’s a must if I want to do any photography.

The AstroMaster 114EQ has nothing to do with the scope on this post. The AstroMaster line is quite decent, good eyepieces, ok mounts, good optics. The only people that would tell you not to buy an AstroMaster 114EQ would be people "allergic" to equatorial mounts. Others (like me) actually prefer them for the convenience and abilities they give you after spending a bit more effort setting them up.
