sorted byTha powerseeker line is complete rubbish, reputable astro-gear retailers don't carry it at all. This is a cheap bird-jones design scope, on a flimsy mount with useless eyepieces. Get it only if you are looking for a way to waste your money.
im actually after a Sky-Watcher Heritage 130P but all on ebay are collection. nobody wants an extra 20£ to ship. (edited)
I'll throw in a car analogy: it's a bit like saying an Austin Metro for £1000 is a good price because everybody else is trying to sell it for £2000 (hey, it's a "classic").
The second hand suggestion is good, but beginners should stay away from the "PowerSeeker" line. Almost anything else from Celestron should be fine...
Also, the manual controls might be a bit frustrating, as you'd have to constantly readjust if using high magnification.
If you are not sure, get this telescope and then you'll know if you enjoy astronomy, and then you can get a computerised telescope with autotracking, etc.
I still don’t have the hang of the EQ mount, but was told it’s a must if I want to do any photography.
