Found 8th Jun 2014
This year, the nation marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

Over the years, our nation’s coins have commemorated many worthwhile and poignant historical moments. Each one a tangible piece of history in its own right. Something of substance and longevity to be passed down from generation to generation.

Guernsey coin - but can be exchanged at your local bank.

These are nice to own but don't expect them to appreciate in value. Modern issue coins are minted in such large volumes and with such frequency, that they are not rare or collectable. You might not even get face value for them from another collector.

Nice to have as a memento but a deal it is not, especially as it's not priced lower than its face value. Sorry.

Yes. Like so many "collectors' items", very unlikely to appreciate in value.

That's why it's called a collector's item, and not an investor's item. Ideal if you're a hoarder who's pretty-much out of hoarding space and down to your last fiver. Otherwise, just a cheesy marketing gimmick

Excellent keepsake bought 2for children. Thanks

It's not a £5 coin as we now it........ It's only legal tender in Guernsey.

Decorative, as far as I am concerned.............

Cold

I understand the collectable aspect but this is still £5 for a £5 coin....... I find it quite amusing that it is being voted hot.

Also if you buy this or any other tat like it, you will be spammed for evermore with emails and junk mail. These 'mint' companies are one of the worst offenders for sending crap for years and years. I guess you can afford to when your profit margins are so ridiculous.

Ordered for my Dad. Thanks for the heads up.

This deal should be removed, nothing but spammers.

I started receiving spam before I even had the item in my hands.

They are know for sending unsolicited goods too.

The last one that was posted was removed.

You can't even use the coin in 99% of the UK even if you wanted.

THIS IS NOT THE ROYAL MINT.

Reported the thread.

LOL @ the idiots buying this. Not Royal Mint, not legal tender. Might as well buy a Pokemon card.

Would be funny to buy £100 worth of these and go on a holiday to Guernsey. How could they make any money out of it if you did?

Or does it create £100 worth of value in the Guernsey economy that wasn't there before so they are happy?

Is this to celebrate the beginning of a war? Hmmm, OK.... I'll wait another 4 years for a different coin.

Brought similar from reputable sellers like the Royal Mint

Although well intentioned (hence neutral vote), spam is the only likely outcome with private companies, this is not from a Royal Mint

It would be funny, actually that would give £60 to a rich private seller based in the uk not guernsey where he keeps his money

I've heard bad things about Westminster, fleecing customers etc, steering well clear personally

You were so wrong. Do you feel as much of a misery as you made yourself look?

Should at least come with a free mug. Oh wait.

If X bought something for £20 in A's shop and A paid B the £20 he owed him and B paid C the £20 he owed him and C paid A the £20 he got on tick in his shop and X returned what he bought to A's shop and got his £20 quid back......all would be happy and no money out of pocket.........does this make sense cause I cant understand it oO

yeah, you should spend more time reading when checking out and untick the box..the one that asks if you mind them sharing information

what do you mean by "unsolicited goods" should I get excited about receiving some free stuff?

No it's £5 for a coin that's worth nothing in this country............ It's £5 for some decoration

A great wheeze...get a small bit of metal...stamp something emotive (& current) on it - sell it for 5,000% markup.

"Emboss it....& they will come"

Does anyone remember Jubilee Crowns? .... my mum bought me one....so did 25 million other mums for their kids - it's worth Jack Sh*te
