Over priced voice-activated gimmick.

Given they say this:

"Hears you from across the room with far-field voice recognition, even in noisy environments or while playing music"

And if they say the same for the Dot version, then they are talking BS, I have two Dots and they have difficulty hearing me from 1M.

So, I've got a Google home to play with but not installed it yet.

I would like to use my Dots for clay pigeon shooting.

If the Google Home works out, I shall see what I can do about returning the Dots as not fit for purpose.

The Dot hardware is better as it has analogue out.

Speaker wise don't know or care - poxy small speakers good for radio 4.

Theyre great for older relatives living alone. They can ask for their favourite music, to remind them to take medication, remind them to call someone. Ask questions & get a reply. So for that I think they could be a lifeline. So I'm adding some heat

Essential and useful item for the disabled. The sound quality is also better than I expected, my parents love it...

Having said thst I wouldn't pay this for refurbished, I'm expecting it to be this price new soon and might pick one up for our house!

We tested the one at my parents house, it can pick it up even when very softly spoken and anything above a whisper from the other side of the room.

A little louder and you can be in the hallway. I heard the echo is better at this than the dots but 1 meter doesn't sound right.

I think they ate fantastic my mum is disabled and until she got the echo she had to sleep with the light on now she turns it off by voice. The sound is much better on the echo than google home

cracking bit of kit and good price too

I don't know, i have a similar problem. I start off asking nicely, escalates to shouting. Matter of time before i teach it a lesson. I'll show it!

Is this the premium version of the Dash button? it seems a bit expensive

I see Google Home now allows for multiple user accounts in the US and that functionality is being turned on in the UK in the near future - so that might be a factor...

Sounds like you have faulty Dots or a faulty voice. I've been very impressed with the voice recognition on my Dot. Occasionally it gets stuff wrong, but those instances are far outweighed by the times it gets it correct. I can happily shout at mine from another room without problems. My only wish is that it was just that little bit louder when I listen to talk radio.
