Use the code to get it at this price, 4no in stock as I look now. I like that the laptop can charged by both the pin charger and USB-C, really extends the life and durability if one of the charge ports breaks. Struggled to find anything similar with the backlit keyboard, fingerprint scanner, IPS screen with anti glare coating etc.

Dell Outlet laptops that are not marked as "scratch and dent" are always brand new in my experience, and they all get the full 1 year Dell warranty like a new laptop would.

I read refurbished as rubbish

Dell refurbs are very good. Nothing like the sort of 'wipe down with a cloth' refurb you get from a used IT seller off eBay.

I've bought 2 Dells from the outlet in the past 2 weeks.
Totally immaculate. Looks, feels and performs like a brand new laptop. And I am a very fussy person.
So I wouldn't just dismiss it like that.

The I.T department at my work happily buy from Dell Outlet which is what made me take notice of them. Unless it says it's scratched, which it clearly does on the website for those that are, then it is always in immaculate brand new condition and comes with the full Dell warranty. But for those who see it is second hand you are entitled to your opinion, if you want to accept lower specs for that opinion at this price point that is again your option.
I bought a 7440 just over a year ago for the other half, just 2 very light grazes on the lid keyboard looked like new and I’ve just upgraded it to windows 10.

The only downside to the one I bought was it was an ex-Corillian one and they had fitted antitheft software which was a bit of a pain to get removed, got it done in the end but worth the effort.

The ssd will probably be an msata as mine was. The computer comes with 190days warranty and their tech support was good

That is probably true - as my scratch and dent Dell was like new. The only issue was that the machine is utter C**P.
I prefer to use my 10 year old IBM than the almost new Dell.

Was your the machine marked as "scratch and dent"?
It was grade A, there were no dents it was a light rub on the lid about 5mm long.

I've never seen anything like "Grade A" on the Dell Outlet website? It's either "scratch and dent" or certified refurbished (which is basically new)

It is not this model. The model I have is heavy, battery life is very very poor. Performance is sluggish and fan is loud.

Ahhh yes, that is very different. That is end of lease laptops that have been used in the field. Dell Outlet laptops are nearly always brand new unless it says "scratch and dent" and even then the damage is minor. And they all still get the full 1 year warranty.
Is this ips display?

Hmm, I've tried doing that but when I filter on Processor: AMD it just shows ones with the 2500U not the 3500U - how did you filter to find it?
Good price.

Ryzen 3500u is well regarded, especially at this price point. On-board graphics knock comparable Intel chips completely out the park.

If photo editing I would go for a Ryzen chipset or dedicated graphics. Of course with the XPS13 you are paying for the form and quality, they really are great quality machines. But is it worth double what I paid? Only you can answer

Cheers! Do you have a sense of what makes the XPS stand out, is it build quality? Being a clumsy git that's pretty important for me...

This is way too expensive IMO. Look for a low end gaming laptop which will have a dedicated graphics card and a decent display. Even then maybe you're only looking at around £600 and can optionally buy an external monitor with better colour representation for the photo editing.

Cheers. I guess things like portability, weight, battery life, build quality all make a difference for me - I move around a lot, usually with a laptop slung in my bag. So could be that an extra £100 or so is worth it for that?

I would really be looking for better graphics capability at that pricepoint. Something with a dedicated Nvidia graphics card or Ryzen Vega.
