Why cold? Its still a saving, better than a kick in the teeth which you can get outside of most CEX stores

It could be VAT avoidance day in the CEX Bristol sotre?
I will pay a visit tomorrow, hope I can find something interesting in the shop. Heat 🔥
Most will do a cash discount if paying cash for a large item. Just need to ask/haggle

Highly doubt it. I used to work at CeX and, unless you were staff, there's no chance of any type of discount.

Second hand products aren't liable for VAT.

Tax avoidance day then maybe? Or maybe just, "Dont tell the Area Manager how much the takings were today", day?
CEX 5% off?

Reminds me of when I was in Amsterdam during the Red Light District January sale!

Yes they are, however various margin schemes apply.

Depends how hard up they are for cash, 5% won’t destroy the margin and then gives them the disposable income to use on higher margin items such as games/DVD’s where the profit margin is higher so it makes sense. If someone had their eye on something then now is certainly the time to do it!

I used my debit card and got £10 of a phone i was buying. He did offer the discount first if i paid cash, but i dont think he wanted me to leave the shop to go to a cash machine, so gave it to me with my debit card. Nice people who work in retail always give a discount

I was offered this once in store and was told they do it sometimes just to improve cash on hand if they are low.
Would have taken it but the shop was closing in 2 minutes and not sure I could have taken out £400+ from a cashpoint.

Doubt all you want .... if your spending a large amount in cash you can often get a discount.

As with all CEX it will vary, the main factor will be, do they need cash. You just need to ask, don’t expect a discount just because you are spending £40 on a game thou

Probably because its only one store doin it, and the cost of travel will outweigh the 5% discount being offered. I havent voted yet though....

I once saw 2 young adults robbing someone of their phone outside CeX and then literally went straight into the shop to sell it

The difference between most stores and CEX is that CEX can run out of cash (due to paying customers cash for the stuff the buy), giving a discount for paying cash means more people will and there fore they have more money to buy other goods off of other customers.

They also dont have to pay the payment processing charges that come with accepting a card payment (1-2%)

they are liable to terrible prices though
I've had very bad experiences with this retailer selling me faulty goods and refusing to exchange or refund them. Avoid.
I went to trade in a bunch of stuff that came to £300 and was willing to spend £420 cash to get a mavic pro and they wouldn't give me the 5% off. Even on the cash part. Had to take all £720 as cash or nothing lol. Didn't bother in the end. Guess as with many places, it's who you get that makes the difference.
I eyed something at my local cex last three days, today I make up my mind try to buy them and the prices just had gone up by 15%. I just left empty hand.

Their price was not competitive as a second hand market. I only shop there because I got to pay partial with my e-voucher and cash but this time the price is way too much at all, I better shop with ebay instead for the same item.

I've had it 3 times buying online, one faulty, second no charging cable and it was a propriety one and third faulty, I just go back instore and get a refund no problems
I've been offered a cash discount on a few occasions at CeX at Tottenham Court Road, particularly on bigger ticket items.
